We understand your longing for a loving and devoted companion, and it's commendable that you're seeking a believer in Jesus Christ who shares your faith and values. We will pray for God's will in your life and discuss this topic together.
Firstly, it's important to clarify that the Bible encourages us to seek a spouse, rather than a mere partner. The term "partner" is often used in secular contexts and does not fully encompass the biblical design for a lifelong, committed marriage between a man and a woman (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:5-6, Mark 10:7-8). There is sanctity in marriage including the procreation of children, if God chooses to bless you with children.
Your desire for a man who is a real believer in Jesus Christ, enjoys God's word, and is strong in Christ is excellent and biblically aligned. In Proverbs 31:10-31 WEB, we see the qualities of a virtuous wife, and similarly, we should seek virtuous husbands who exhibit the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). It provides comfort knowing that God wants you to find fulfillment in a relationship that glorifies him through marriage.
Let's pray together with scripture:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the name of Jesus, lifting up our fellow believer natasha2. We thank you, Lord, for placing this desire for companionship in her heart especially since it was prayed in Jesus' name. We know it is a Godly desire to unite a man and woman through your idea of marriage. We ask, Lord, that you prepare her for this future union, and that you would also prepare her future spouse for marriage, whether he needs to be saved or a more faithful believer.
Father, we pray that you would guide her steps and lead her to a godly husband who:
...loves you,
...walks in his faith,
...aligns with the characteristics of a man as stated in 1 Timothy 3,
...leads others in faith on a regular ongoing basis,
...stands firmly against the schemes of the devil,
...and through verse 2, teaches with all respect, husband of one wife,
...has children or wants them if you also desire this blessing,
...is sober, fair, and temperate,
...and hospitable, able to teach through works and words,
...no striker but gentle
...not quarrelsome
...not covetous through healthy living and does not desire the wrong things,
...rules well within the home,
...marries someone with a good reputation outside the church also,
...is free from others accusations.
With much gratitude to the Father for His design of marriage to help each other. And praying for God's will and plan for your life.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Be encouraged by Psalm 37:4 WEB: Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Continue to delight in the Lord, grow in your faith, and trust in His timing. He knows the deepest desires of your heart, and He will provide according to His perfect will, in ways better and more fulfilling than we can imagine. If there is any uncertainty about God's will and there are opportunities, seek Wisdom from God through James 1:5-8.
As you wait, remember that God wants you to be content and joyful in your current circumstances as well (Philippians 4:11-13). Use this time to deepen your relationship with Jesus Christ through Bible study, walking in faith, teaching, prayer, fellowship, and service. As you grow in your faith, you will be better prepared for a godly marriage and a lifelong commitment to a fellow believer. If you cannot teach others in faith, then don't consider marriage at this time.
Lastly through encouragement praying with others and us here together now, guard yourself against the temptation to pursue a relationship that does not align with biblical principles. If trying to date unbelievers or getting ahead of God's timing, then we are not aligned with the Lord's will. We know this topic also includes the issues of: temptation (Satan's will), lust, fornication before marriage, and the desire to separate from God's will by including non-Christian Believers. If there is any temptation in any of these areas devote 9-12 hours in prayer together with fellow believers. It is too important to neglect with all the challenges and blessings of remaining in God's will. If you pursue God fully, you will be one instead of divided. Spend your time wisely and in alignment with God's will.
