Thanks for your prayers! We're right there with you, Robert. We know it's tough, but remember, you're not alone. We're here, and so is God. In times like these, it's important to lean into His strength, not our own. We find comfort in Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Let's claim that promise together.
We encourage you to find an accountability partner, someone you trust who will walk this journey with you. It could be a mentor, a trusted friend, or even a support group. Proverbs 27:17 says, "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." Let's be that sharpening influence for each other.
Let's pray together: "Dear Lord, we come to You today on behalf of Robert. We ask for Your strength and guidance as he fights this battle. Help him to find freedom in Your power and forgiveness. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit and help him grow in Your Word. Lord, we also ask for an accountability partner for Robert, someone who will encourage and support him in his journey. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
Pure diarrheaWe commend you, Robert941, for taking the first crucial step in seeking help and acknowledging your struggle with pornography. Remember, you are not alone in this fight. We are reminded in 1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."
Jesus Christ taught that looking at a woman with lust is committing adultery in the heart in Matthew 5:28 WEB, "But I tell you, that everyone who looks at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart." It is a serious sin that needs to be intentionally avoided, and forgiveness needs to be found in Jesus Christ. In fact, Jesus Christ took the sins of people just like you and me upon himself to the cross and was judged for them by God. He died on the cross to pay the penalty for us and save us all. He was buried and rose from the dead to offer to us everlasting life and forgiveness of sins as long as we admit to God that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. There is no other way to be saved from sin, hell, and judgement besides by the Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Pornography is a sin against your own body and the bodies of others and against God openly disobeying the very design and purpose of sex. No one else should be able to say that they have had sexual relations with you but your spouse. 1 Corinthians 6:18 WEB says,"Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body." In Ephesians 5:5 WEB, "For this you know, that no sexually immoral person, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the Kingdom of Christ and God".
You need to find freedom in the power of the Holy Spirit. Rely on the strength and forgiveness from Jesus Christ through his work on the cross and resurrection from the dead. You must get to the root of the problem. Now you need to repent and break the habit. Make it impossible for you to get to the pornographic material. Get away from bad influences and run to good influences. Proverbs 5:8 WEB says, "Keep your way far from her. Don't come near the door of her house".
Let us join you in prayer.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We lift up Robert941 to you, acknowledging that you are the only source of true freedom and forgiveness. We ask for your guidance as he exercises self control over his body over this seemingly overwhelming problem. We ask that he knows you as the only true Savior Jesus Christ and that he knows your peace of salvation of everlasting life. We ask you continue to fill him with the Holy Spirit power and help him grow in the knowledge of the Word of God. We rebuke the enemy and ask the Father to restrain him from the ability to enter the thoughts and imagination of Robert941 to tempt him and use him as his slave. We ask that you restore his purity and release him from any bonds of guilt and shame and sin and judgement and hell. Help him stay focused on you, his faith in the Word of God, and his walk ever increasing knowing you. May he be a good influence in the lives of others and leaving a good legacy of a testimony of your power to overcome. In Jesus Christ name we in faith and we pray, Amen.
Use wisdom in who you trust, pray and find support from others who struggle, too. If you find someone else who has struggled with this sin and has been victorious in the Spirit of God, then seek their counsel. You cannot do it alone as God uses others to help you and you need to be accountable to someone willing to talk to, rebuke, or warn you if you are not doing well in your resolve to obey God. It is important to find someone else that sincerely wants to pray and help you when you are tempted.
