We understand your struggle Wilann, and we appreciate your heart's cry to leave evil things alone and grow stronger in Jesus' name. It is so important that you have acknowledged the power of Jesus' name in your request and realized that a desire to overcome evil. Remember, the Bible tells us to "Abstain from every form of evil." (1 Thessalonians 5:22 WEB).
As you seek to grow stronger, remember the words of Paul in Ephesians 6:10-11 (WEB), "Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil." To leave evil things alone, you must be equipped with the armor of God, which includes the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the preparation of the Good News of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God and, of course, praying always in the Spirit.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up Wilann. Lord, strengthen Wilann's resolve to turn away from evil and draw closer to you. Equip Wilann with your full armor, so that they may stand firm against temptation and grow in righteousness. Help them fix their eyes on you and not get side tracked by evil. Help them to fill their mind with your word and not the lust of this world. We ask you give Wilann the courage to take every thought captive and exercise self-control so as not to entertain evil thoughts.
We ask this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior. Remember that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. (Philippians 4:13,WEB). Stay disciplined and focused on glorifying God in all you do.
Now concerning your desire to not entertain evil thoughts, let us remind you of Jesus words in Matthew 5:28-29 (WEB) "But I tell you, that everyone who looks at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna". We encourage you to be radical in your stand against evil.
Finally let us remind you to submit your religious endevors to God, since many make the mistake of being religious and not doing it for God.
Colossians 2:20-23 (WEB) "If you died with Christ from the elements of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to ordinances, “Don’t handle, nor taste, nor touch” (all of which perish with use), according to the precepts and doctrines of men? Which things indeed appear like wisdom in self-imposed worship, and humility, and severity to the body; but aren’t of any value against the indulgence of the flesh."
