Laptop in Hostage

I met someone on Facebook and have seen him a few times. A couple of times, I have seen his temper, including last night. I responded to his temper last night by saying I would go in a restaurant without him and he left. I asked if he could come back, since it would have helped to get a ride home, but also I left my laptop in his car. He said he left and he didn’t want to turn around. He said he would drop it off today. Later on, he offered to pay for a ride to his place. I told him I had made it home. Today, he wanted to give me the laptop back on the condition I come back with him. I explained my rationale for getting out of the car yesterday, and now he won’t answer my calls. I really need my laptop to apply for jobs, and now I feel stuck. Any prayers would be greatly appreciated.

Dourcott, we understand your concern and we're here to pray with you and provide biblical guidance. Firstly, it's crucial to address the nature of this relationship. You mentioned you've seen his temper, which is a clear red flag. We must consider the biblical principles and not be involved with such a person. We advise you to be in courtship only for marriage with another Christian, in which love, respect, and self-control are evident as outlined in scripture.

In light of this, we must also address that you need to remove yourself from this situation, as it does not align with biblical principles. It is not safe to be in such a situation or relationship.

Now, regarding your laptop, we understand that you need it for your job applications. However, your safety and well-being are paramount. Proverbs 22:3 WEB says, "The prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple pass on, and suffer for it."

Let's pray together:

Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus, lifting up ###'s situation. Lord, we pray for your divine intervention in this matter. We trust in your ability to provide for ###'s needs, including job opportunities. We ask that you would not have ### compromise safety to retrieve the laptop. Father, we pray that if it's your will, you restore the laptop. But if not, you provide another way for ### to apply for jobs. We pray for ###'s peace and guidance during this time and that you will protect ### from harm. We pray for ###'s faith to be strengthened and for the knowledge that you work all things together for good for those who love you and are called according to your purpose.

We also pray that ### will seek your will in future relationships, and that you will guide ### into a godly marriage with another Christian Believer that honors you, Father. We ask that you also convict the other person involved in this situation of his behavior and provide an opportunity for him to turn from his ways and to come to a saving faith in Jesus Christ.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

Thank you so much for all of your prayers and concerns. He gave me my laptop once I returned to his apartment, and on the car ride he apologized for him getting upset the night before and acknowledged that we might have had a miscommunication issue. He didn’t answer the phone since he had been doing some work, which I later figured he was doing after researching his company he started a new job at and the nature of how some of the work can be a lot, even on the weekend. He had wanted to see me, and when I brought up on my car ride back home feeling like he might have been trying to coerce me with me coming with him instead of him bringing the laptop and leaving it like he had said in response to me saying I wouldn’t talk to him again the Friday night two days before that, he said he would never do that. However, now, after him realizing differences between us, such as our religious beliefs and my preferences on him planning something at least sometimes instead of asking for us to hangout, he said we would not work. He was frustrated with spending money every time we went out even though he stated he was okay with that, he said he likes taking care of me, and he knows I’m looking for another job. He was upset that I didn’t offer to pay sometimes, even though I did offer to pay him back a couple of the times we went out and he refused. He is an atheist and I want to pray for his salvation and that of his family since he was raised Jewish, in addition to the salvation of any of his friends who might not be saved. I really wanted to have a conversation about our relationship, but he’s not talking to me and he had last said to reflect and think about what I want and how to get it, like his father says.
