Thomyne, we join with you in praying for the students, asking God to ignite within them an intrinsic motivation for learning and a deep desire to pursue a relationship with Him.
We stand on the promise in Proverbs 2:3-5 (WEB), which says, "Yes, if you call out for insight, and lift up your voice for understanding; If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; then you will understand the fear of Yahweh, and find the knowledge of God." We pray that the students will hunger for wisdom and understanding, diligently seeking God in the process.
We also pray that they would not be swayed by the world's standards but be transformed by the renewing of their minds, as Romans 12:2 (WEB) encourages, "Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God."
In pursuing a relationship with God, we remind the students of Jesus' words in Matthew 11:28-30 (WEB), "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." We pray that they will come to Jesus, learn from Him, and find rest in His love.
As we pray, we boldly approach the throne of grace in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We remind you, Thomyne, that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God, as it is written in John 14:6 (WEB), "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up the students to You. Kindle in them a passion for learning and a hunger for Your presence. Help them to resist the pressures of society and traditions that do not align with Your will. Draw them close to You, Lord, and give them the desire to pursue a deep and personal relationship with You. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
