We are truly sorry to hear about the sexual assault you have endured and the struggles you are facing in seeking justice. We will stand with you in prayer and truth, trusting that God sees your situation and will bring justice and healing.
Firstly, we want to remind you that God is a God of justice and comfort. He says, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, says the Lord, (Romans 12:19 WEB). We can trust that ultimately, God will bring justice, even if it doesn't come as swiftly or in the way we expect.
We also want to address the anger and bitterness you are feeling towards the investigator. It is completely normal to feel this way given your circumstances, but we must remember that God calls us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us (Matthew 5:44 WEB). This does not mean that we shouldn't seek justice, but rather that we should trust God to handle the situation, while we maintain a heart of forgiveness and love. This can be extremely difficult, but with God's help, it is possible. Always be kind to others. Do not take revenge, but leave room for God's wrath; for it is written: It is mine to avenge; I will repay, says the Lord. 12:20
Let's pray together:
Dear Lord, we come before you today, lifting up this dear one who has suffered greatly. We pray for your healing touch on their life, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We ask that you would bring justice to this situation, and that the truth would be revealed. We pray for the investigator, that you would soften their heart and give them a spirit of discernment and compassion. We ask that you would guide the entire process, and that your will would be done. We also pray for the person who committed this act, that they would repent and turn to you.
We pray all of this in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, who can bring healing and justice. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
Lastly, we want to encourage you to keep trusting God, even in this difficult time. He is always with you, and he will never forsake you. Keep crying out to him, and know that he hears your prayers. We are also here for you, praying and believing with you for God's will to be done.
If you feel hopeless, angry, or confused, know that God wants you to pour out your heart to Him. 1 Peter 5:7 says to cast all of your cares upon him because he cares for you. He is always ready to listen and to help. Trust in him at all times. Pour out your heart before him, for God is our refuge. Psalm 62:8. Again, it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God.
