Humble Servant of All
Judges 2:13 They forsook the LORD and served Baal and the Ashtoreths. 1 Kings 11:1-9 But King Solomon loved many foreign women, as well as the daughter of Pharaoh: women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians, and Hittites— from the nations of whom the LORD had said to the children of Israel, "You shall not intermarry with them, nor they with you. Surely they will turn away your hearts after their gods." Solomon clung to these in love. And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines; and his wives turned away his heart. For it was so, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned his heart after other gods; and his heart was not loyal to the LORD his God, as was the heart of his father David. For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites. Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and did not fully follow the LORD, as did his father David. Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, on the hill that is east of Jerusalem, and for Molech the abomination of the people of Ammon. And he did likewise for all his foreign wives, who burned incense and sacrificed to their gods. So the LORD became angry with Solomon, because his heart had turned from the LORD God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice, Judges 10:6 Then the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served the Baals and the Ashtoreths, the gods of Syria, the gods of Sidon, the gods of Moab, the gods of the people of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines; and they forsook the LORD and did not serve Him. 1 Samuel 7:3 Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, “If you return to the LORD with all your hearts, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths from among you, and prepare your hearts for the LORD, and serve Him only; and He will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines.” 1 Samuel 12:10 Then they cried out to the LORD, and said, ‘We have sinned, because we have forsaken the LORD and served the Baals and Ashtoreths; but now deliver us from the hand of our enemies, and we will serve You.’ 1 Samuel 31:10 Then they put his armor in the temple of the Ashtoreths, and they fastened his body to the wall of Beth Shan. 1 Kings 11:33 because they have forsaken Me, and worshiped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the people of Ammon, and have not walked in My ways to do what is right in My eyes and keep My statutes and My judgments, as did his father David. 1 Kings 15:13 Also he removed Maachah his grandmother from being queen mother, because she had made an obscene image of Asherah. And Asa cut down her obscene image and burned it by the Brook Kidron. 2 Kings 23:13 Then the king defiled the high places that were east of Jerusalem, which were on the south of the Mount of Corruption, which Solomon king of Israel had built for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Sidonians, for Chemosh the abomination of the Moabites, and for Milcom the abomination of the people of Ammon. Ezekiel 8:14 So He brought me to the door of the north gate of the LORD's house; and to my dismay, women were sitting there weeping for Tammuz. Ezekiel 8:17 And He said to me, "Have you seen this, O son of man? Is it a trivial thing to the house of Judah to commit the abominations which they commit here? For they have filled the land with violence; then they have returned to provoke Me to anger. Indeed they put the branch to their nose. 1 John 2:15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. Revelation 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven saying, "Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues.

We understand that you are concerned about idolatry and the worship of false gods, as described in the scriptures you shared. Let us pray and seek God's will together in Jesus' name.

Firstly, let us address the issue of idolatry. Idolatry is not just about worshiping physical idols, but it is also about giving anything or anyone a higher priority than God. In 1 Samuel 7:3, Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, If you return to the LORD with all your hearts, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths from among you, and prepare your hearts for the LORD, and serve Him only. And in 1 John 2:15, we are warned, Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. Therefore, this is not just about worshiping other gods or the world. We must be careful not to let anything come between us and our relationship with God.

The consequences of idolatry are severe. In 1 Kings 11:33, God says, because they have forsaken Me, and worshiped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the people of Ammon, and have not walked in My ways to do what is right in My eyes and keep My statutes and My judgments, as did his father David.

We must also address the issue of intermarriage with unbelievers, as Solomon did. In 1 Kings 11:1-9, we see that Solomon loved many foreign women who turned his heart after their gods. We are clearly warned in God's word not to intermarry with unbelievers because they will turn our hearts away from God.

Let us pray:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You, seeking Your forgiveness for the times we have allowed idols into our lives. We repent of our sins and ask that You help us to put away any foreign gods and prepare our hearts for You alone. Help us to serve You and You alone.

Lord, we also pray for those who are considering relationships with unbelievers. We ask that You give them the strength to end those relationships and seek godly spouses that will help them grow in their faith.

We pray for those who are struggling with temptations to fit into the world and worship other things. Help them to overcome these temptations to conform and help them to be transformed by the renewing of their minds.

Lord, we know that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to You. And it is only by believing in Jesus Christ that we can be saved. There is no other name given to mankind under heaven whereby we must be saved. Therefore, if anyone does not know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, we pray that today is the day of salvation. We pray that they will come to know Him, believe in Him, and accept Him as their Lord and Savior. Help them to confess with their mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in their heart that God has raised Him from the dead. Then they will be saved. For with the heart one believes to righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made to salvation.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Dear friend,

We echo your concern about the dangers of idolatry and the worship of false gods, as highlighted in the passages you've shared. Let's continue to seek God's will together in Jesus' name.

In addition to the excellent points made earlier, let's remember that idolatry isn't just about physical idols or even other religions. It can also manifest in our priorities and allegiances. In Revelation 18:4, we hear a voice from heaven saying, "Come out of her, my people, lest you take part in her sins, lest you share in her plagues." This is a call to separate ourselves from the world's systems and values that contradict God's will.

Let's also pray for discernment in our relationships. As seen in Solomon's example, intermarriage with unbelievers can lead us astray. Let's ask God for wisdom in choosing relationships that will help us grow in our faith, not hinder it.

Lastly, let's remember that God is a jealous God (Exodus 20:5). He desires our wholehearted love and devotion. Let's strive to give Him that, putting Him first in all things.

Let's pray:

Dear Lord, forgive us for the times we've allowed idols to creep into our lives. Help us to put them away and turn our hearts fully towards You. Give us the strength to resist temptations to conform to the world's standards and help us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Help us to choose relationships that will draw us closer to You and not away. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We are thankful that you have given us the privilege to pray on your behalf and stand in agreement with you, just as the Lord our God commanded us to intercede for one another.
