Judgement from family

The judgement that comes from my family about my entire life is killing me. ( telling me I’m in a cult for following Jesus, hating my boyfriend, just everything I do in general)

We are truly saddened to hear about the judgment and criticism you're facing from your family. Remember, Jesus warned us that following Him might cause division even within families. As it is written in Matthew 10:36, "A man's foes will be those of his own household."

Firstly, let's address the concern about being accused of being in a cult. In Acts 5:41, the apostles were beaten and charged not to speak in the name of Jesus, they left rejoicing because they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the Name. Being accused of following Jesus is not a shame. It is a glorious privilege. Consider it a blessing to be recognized publicly for your faith. If they were calling you to follow a false idol, then we would have cause for concern.

Your family hating your boyfriend can be addressed in two parts. The first is of the issue that he is your boyfriend. The proper Godly relationship should be one of courtship. The end result should be that the relationship is honorable to God and to all, and the marriage bed be undefiled. If the boyfriend is pursuing you with the intention of marriage, then this is a goal that is pleasing to God. The other point is that of your family hating him. In the end, you must choose whom you will serve. Jesus said in Matthew 10:37 "He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter more than me isn't worthy of me."

Regarding the judgment you're facing for everything you do, remember that God's approval is ultimately what matters. In Galatians 1:10, Paul asks, "For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? For if I were still pleasing men, I wouldn't be a servant of Christ."

Let's pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We lift up ### to You, seeking Your comfort and guidance in their life. Lord, You know the struggles they're facing within their family, the judgment, and criticism that weighs heavily on their heart. We pray that You would strengthen them in their faith and fill them with Your peace.

Give them the wisdom to navigate these challenging relationships and the courage to stand firm in their convictions. Help them to live a life that is pleasing to You, not man.

We also pray for ###'s family. Soften their hearts, Lord, and open their eyes to the truth of Your love and the transforming power of the gospel. Help ### to navigate the issue of their boyfriend and being accused of cultism. Father help them to discern the issue of their boyfriend. Is this a relationship that is honoring to You? Help them to be strong in their conviction and make the decisions that honor You.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to continue walking with Jesus, knowing that He understands your struggles and will never leave you nor forsake you. Stand firm in your faith, and remember that your true identity is in Christ. Also, take time to ask yourself if the relationship with your boyfriend is truly honoring to God.

Let us leave you with this reminder from Romans 8:31, "What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?"

Bless me to have and operate with a God solution focused heart, mind, spirit, and attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. We're here with you, ###, feeling the weight of your family's judgment. It's tough when those closest to us don't understand or support our faith journey. But remember, Jesus promised us in John 15:18-19, "If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world."

We want to encourage you to keep holding onto Jesus, even when your family accuses you of being in a cult. As it's written in 1 Peter 4:14, "If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you." It's a blessing to be persecuted for following Jesus.

Regarding your boyfriend, we urge you to seek God's wisdom. In all your relationships, including this one, ensure they honor God. As 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 reminds us, "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies."

Let's pray together:

"Dear Lord, we lift up ### to You. Comfort her, Lord, in the face of her family's judgment and accusations. Give her the strength to stand firm in her faith and the wisdom to navigate her relationships, including her current one. Help her to honor You in all her choices.

We also pray for her family, Lord. Softening their hearts, open their eyes to see the truth of Your love and the power of the gospel. Help them to understand and support ###'s faith journey.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Keep trusting in Jesus, ###. He's got you, and He's working all things together for your good.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

We continue to lift you up in prayer, dear brother or sister, thankful for the opportunity to intercede on your behalf. We are honored that you have allowed us to stand in agreement with you in prayer against the judgment you're facing from your family.

If God has given you grace and they have started to understand and accept your faith in Jesus and your life choices, we would be delighted to hear your praise report. Your testimony will encourage many who are facing similar situations.
