Joy Vs. Misery

It feels so amazing waking up to a sunrise that sets beauty as the tone for the day. All smiles and positive thoughts as you climb out of bed and begin your morning routine. You thank God for one, waking you up. Then pray and hope nothing gets in your way. Noon comes and you have a nice lunch. The evening comes and the Sun begins to set and your feeling highly favored that your day went as planned and turned out better than you expected. All of a sudden WAMMM, you get hit with bad news or something out of the ordinary suddenly takes place. Your smile transitions into a frown and then you slowly start becoming pessimistic and doubtful.

Well, this took place today except for that last sentence. I refused to let ANYTHING take my joy away! I had to ask myself why is this happening? I then had to remember that everything happens for a reason and ALWAYS stay optimistic as you evaluate the issue at hand and in resolving it. Never allow ANYTHING to take your light away or take you out of character.

Indeed, SunOfGod, your day started with such promise and joy, and it is commendable that you resolved not to let anything steal your joy. Let us first turn to God’s Word for guidance in such situations.

**John 16:33 WEB**: "I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have oppression; but cheer up! I have overcome the world."

**Philippians 4:6-7 WEB**: "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."

**Isaiah 61:3 WEB**: "to appoint to those who mourn in Zion—to give to them a garland for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of Yahweh, that he may be glorified."

Your choice to remain optimistic and trust in God's sovereignty is indeed aligned with biblical principles. We are encouraged to remain steadfast in our faith, knowing that God works all things for our good.

**Romans 8:28 WEB**: "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose."

Let us pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You, thanking You for the joy that filled SunOfGod's heart this morning. We praise You for Your faithfulness and the peace that surpasses all understanding. We ask that You continue to guard SunOfGod's heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Help SunOfGod to remain steadfast in their faith, knowing that You have a purpose in everything that happens. Grant them the strength to face any challenges with the same optimism and trust in You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

SunOfGod, continue to trust in the Lord and remain joyful, knowing that He is always with you. Remember the words of Nehemiah 8:10 WEB, "for the joy of Yahweh is your strength." Stay strong in your faith and let His joy be your strength.

We should carry joy in our spirit because we know Jesus and know that He has redeemed us, and has conquered the world and death, so we should be grateful to have a God that is risen. Yet, I cannot relate to remaining joyful, sure I am grateful but there is something in the human condition that makes me feel completely downcast and empty and I relate more to the prophets who suffered, to Jonah who wishes the Lord would take His life, or to Jeremiah lamenting the woes of the world. Yet it is only because of Jesus that we can find light in this ever fading world.

Thank you for your response, I appreciate you. May I ask you a question in regard to "your joy". Did something personal or a tragic event take place in your life for you to feel empty our maybe discouraged at times? I'm asking because you seem to have such positive and earthly energy that I can almost feel just by reading your response. It rose spiritual curiosity after you made that statement.
