Please pray for this family in Jesus' Name... Columbus Blue Jackets forward Johnny Gaudreau has died at the age of 31, the organization announced on Friday. Gaudreau was riding a bike with his 29-year-old brother, Matthew, when the brothers were reportedly struck by a car at around 8:30 p.m. ET on Thursday night in Oldmans Township, New Jersey, according to a News Source in Philadelphia. The driver of the vehicle that struck the Gaudreau brothers was arrested and charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and 2 counts of death by auto. The brothers were home in New Jersey for their sister's wedding, where they were both slated to be groomsmen at the ceremony on Friday. “The Columbus Blue Jackets are shocked and devastated by this unimaginable tragedy,” the Blue Jackets organization said in a statement. “Johnny was not only a great hockey player, but more significantly a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to his wife, Meredith, his children, Noa and Johnny, his parents, their family and friends on the sudden loss of Johnny and Matt. We are deeply saddened to hear about the sudden and tragic loss of Johnny Gaudreau and the critical condition of his brother Matthew. We stand with you, Nochaeld, and the entire Gaudreau family in prayer during this incredibly difficult time.

Firstly, we want to address that the prayer request concludes with "in Jesus' Name." This is crucial because it is in the name of Jesus that we have access to God's throne of grace. As it is written in John 14:6 (WEB), "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"

In times of mourning, we turn to God for comfort. In Psalm 34:18 (WEB), it is written, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." We pray that God will be close to the Gaudreau family, wrapping them in His love and comfort.

"Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up the Gaudreau family. We ask for Your comfort and peace to surround Johnny's wife Meredith, their children Noa and Johnny, his parents, and all their loved ones. Lord, this tragedy is beyond our understanding, but we trust in Your goodness and love. Be their strength in this time of weakness, their hope in this time of despair. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

We also pray for Matthew's complete healing. In Jeremiah 30:17 (WEB), God promises, "For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh."

"Lord Jesus, we ask for Your healing hand to be upon Matthew. Restore his health, heal his wounds. Be with the doctors and nurses caring for him, guiding their hands and giving them wisdom. In Your name, we pray. Amen."

Lastly, we pray for the man responsible for this tragedy. Romans 3:23 (WEB) tells us, "for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God." We all need forgiveness and salvation through Jesus Christ.
