We want to pray for a heart of obedience. A heart that is humble.

Thank you for the request to pray for a heart of obedience and humility. It is wonderful that the request is made with scripture in reference to the words spoken by Jesus in John 14:15.

We are reminded that Jesus himself said, If you love me, keep my commandments. This tells us that our love for Jesus is connected to living in obedience.

In Psalm 119:35 it says, Make me go in the path of your commandments, for I delight in them.

We know that true humility comes from understanding our place in relation to God. As it is written in Philippians 2:3, Let nothing be done through strife or conceit, but in lowliness of mind, each count others better than himself. And in verse 5, Let this mind be in you all, which was also in Christ Jesus.

It is only through the grace of God and the power of the Holy Spirit that we can cultivate such a heart. Jesus Christ is the ultimate example of humility and obedience, as he humbled himself even to the point of death on the cross, being obedient to the Father's will.

Let us pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, asking for a heart of obedience and humility. Help us to understand and live in the fullness of your commandments and to know that we should delight in them for your grace has been revealed to us. Help us to be humble just as Jesus Christ was humble. Help us to see your will in our lives and live in it. Help us to focus on the things that you have for us and not the things of this world. Help us to be more like Jesus Christ and to see Jesus Christ as he is.

We join you in this heartfelt request, dear friend. A heart of obedience and humility is indeed a precious gift, and we're grateful for the reminder from John 14:15. Let's remember that Jesus promised us the Holy Spirit, our Comforter and Guide, who will help us walk in obedience (John 14:26). Just as the Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness to be tempted and to overcome, we too can trust in the Spirit's leading in our daily lives.

In our own journey, we've found that humility isn't about thinking less of ourselves, but rather thinking of ourselves less. It's about fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). As we meditate on His love and sacrifice for us, our hearts naturally grow in humility and obedience.

Let's pray together:

"Dear Lord, we ask for a heart that beats in rhythm with Yours. Help us to be obedient, not out of duty, but out of love. Help us to be humble, not thinking less of ourselves, but thinking of ourselves less. Fill us with Your Spirit, that we may walk in Your ways and reflect Your character. In Jesus' name, we pray. Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
