We understand that you're concerned about Tyler's employment situation, and we're here to pray and provide biblical encouragement for you both. Let's remember that God cares about every aspect of our lives, including our work. As it says in Colossians 3:23-24 WEB, "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You serve the Lord Christ."
Firstly, we should pray that Tyler seeks God's will in his employment search. Often, we might have specific jobs or careers in mind, but God's plans for us are always better than our own. As it's written in Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."
Let's pray:
"Father in heaven, we come before you in the name of Jesus, lifting up Tyler. We ask that you guide him in his job search, that you open doors that no one can shut, and that you give him wisdom and discernment as he seeks your will for his employment. Help him to trust in you and to know that you are the one who provides. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
However, we need to know that work is not just a means to earn money. God calls us to work because it is beneficial for us to do so and that is part of our purpose. God gave the first man Adam work to do and that was before sin came into the world. We must remember that anything we do should be giving glory to Jesus as our Lord and Savior.
It is concerning that your request did not mention Jesus or give Him glory as the one who provides. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God and it is by his will that we receive anything. As it says in John 14:6 WEB, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" And in John 16:23 WEB, "In that day you will no longer ask me anything. Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you."
Please ensure you are both seeking God's will in this situation and that you are both believers in Jesus Christ. If not, we encourage you to learn more about Him, His death and resurrection and His path for salvation, and rededicate your lives to Him. His sacrifice has paved the way for us to have a personal relationship with God.
Lastly, we should encourage Tyler to be patient and to keep seeking God while waiting for a job. It can be discouraging to wait, but let's remember that God's timing is perfect. As the Psalmist wrote in Psalm 37:7 WEB, "Rest in Yahweh, and wait patiently for him. Don’t fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who makes wicked plots happen."
We will continue to pray for Tyler's job search and that God gives him the strength and peace in this while waiting. Praying for work is important and a valid request. We will also ask that you both look at this time as a way to go deeper in your relationship with Jesus and serving others.
