We understand that you're seeking prayer for safety and guidance as you return to the office and hope to eventually work from home again. We stand with you in prayer and offer the following encouragement and advice.
Firstly, we commend you for stating 'Amen' which means 'so be it.' However, we are instructed in scripture to pray in a specific way. At the end of your prayer you should have included 'In Jesus' name.' As it is only by and through Jesus that we are saved and have access to God. Let's examine a couple of scriptures.
Hear, O Israel: Yahweh is our God, Yahweh is one; and you shall love Yahweh your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. Know therefore this day, and lay it to your heart, that Yahweh he is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath; there is none else. There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.
From these we see clearly that there is only one God and only one way to be saved. That is through faith in Jesus Christ. It is also through Jesus that we pray. So if you are already saved, if Jesus is your savior, then you need to pray in His name.
We are pleased to hear your desire to work from home. Scripture tells us that we should honor those in authority over us. Yet, we can certainly approach God with our requests. We also need to be content in our circumstances.
Let's turn to the Bible for guidance:
"Let us therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for help in time of need." Hebrews 4:16
"Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in Sheol, where you are going." Ecclesiastes 9:10
"Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and, having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having the utility belt of truth buckled around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having fitted your feet with the preparation of the Good News of peace; above all, taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; with all prayer and requests, praying at all times in the Spirit, and being watchful to this end in all perseverance and requests for all the saints:" Ephesians 6:10-18
Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus, lifting up our brother in Christ who is seeking safety and guidance as they return to the office. We pray for your protection over them as they commute and interact with others in the workplace. We ask that you would grant them wisdom and favor in their discussions with their superiors, and that you would open a door for them to work from home in the future if it is your will (1 John 5:14).
We pray for patience and contentment in their current circumstances, knowing that you are in control of all things. We ask that you would help them to be a light for you in their workplace, reflecting your love and grace to those around them. We pray that they would find strength in you each day, and that you would guide their steps and keep them from stumbling (Psalm 17:5, Proverbs 3:5-6).
We ask these things in Jesus name. Amen.
