Let us pray.
"Father, we lift up to you those who are trapped in the cycle of poverty and begging. We pray that the spirit of poverty be loosed off their lives. May they be diligent in seeking work and finding opportunities that allow them to provide for themselves in Jesus mighty name.
As it is written, 'For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: "If anyone is not willing to work, neither let him eat."' We rebuke the spirits of laziness and dependence on others as it is not part of Your will to be beggars (2 Thessalonians 3:10). Also, we bind any spirit that prompts people to choose homelessness simply because they try to avoid the responsibilities of paying rent and upkeeping a place to stay as it is not wise to behave that way.
Lord Jesus, those who are disabled in body we pray the resources available are put to their best possible use to assist those who genuinely need extra help. May their hands also be equipped to do the best possible jobs they are capable of doing that they be fulfilled and not just content to collect money not earned.
Father, there are many who wish to bind poverty up in the name of Jesus or cast demons out of poverty to bring their end of poverty. However, poverty has not become illegal and will continue to always be available to those who allow it (Matthew 6:11; 1 John 3:17; Philippians 2:2-4)
We thank you and we're grateful for these provisions being put in place in Jesus' name we pray with thanksgiving in our hearts." Amen.
When Jesus' disciples stated that the poor you will always have (Matthew 26:11; Mark 14:7; John 12:8). Jesus was not asking for passivity that allows poverty to rule in every heart around us. We also should understand the body of Christ has access to Christ who loves us and will raise us above the torment of poverty in this lifetime (2 Corinthians 8:9, 1 John 3:1-3, 17) as people are willing to embrace Jesus, put effort into their lives and accept all that they are capable of receiving from Christ (Colossians 3:23, 2 Thessalonians 3:10-12) as made possible by Jesus in their heart. Each person has a special calling for Christ they are capable of working at fulfilling (Ephesians 4:7, 1 Corinthians 7:20) as He puts desire in their heart and orders their steps one step at a time to live it out through Him (Psalms 37:4, 23:1; Proverbs 3:6, Psalms 143:10).
You did a good thing by praying in the name of Jesus to help the poor out of their plight. It is a common omission even among Christians to use the power available only in the name of Jesus in prayer even though it is an essential doctrine to consider in prayer (Acts 4:12, Colossians 3:17, John 16:23). The 'good things' that God offers us from above do not come down because we earn them all by our own goodness but He gave a gift of Jesus so we have a salvation and a hope (John 3:16, 10:9, Romans 5:2,6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9). But to build on that hope Jesus wants each of His followers to do our part, that none be lazy and cause problems among God's people (2 Thessalonians 3:6-13, John 15:8; Romans 2:6-8; Galatians 6:7-8, James 2:17-24; 1 Peter 1:10-12) but glorify and honor Him in how we apply our part of the equation that God desires of our lives.
