JESUS WILL CALM
YOUR STORM!
That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, "Let us go over to the other side." Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, "Teacher, don't you care if we drown?" He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, "Quiet! Be still!" Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. Mark 4:35-39
Are you in a storm of marriage or financial problems? I know the fear that you are feeling. The winds seem to be blowing so strong in your circumstances that you feel like you are drowning. I pray that you will reread the scripture above in Mark 4 about Jesus calming the storm. Do you believe in the power of the Lord Jesus? Nothing is too hard for the Lord!
Do you know what Jesus asked His disciples? In fact, I believe He is asking you and I the same thing as we face the storms of circumstances in our lives.
He said to his disciples, "Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?" Mark 4:40
The Lord wants you to walk in faith each and every day. It is not an option, but to walk in victory throughout your life, you and I need to have total blind faith that we know that the Lord can solve any problem. He did not want the disciples to die by drowning in a storm, but He wanted them to have faith instead of living in fear.
They were terrified and asked each other, "Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!" Mark 4:41
I can only imagine how our Lord must grieve over the devastation and damage done to all the marriages and families around the world. I cannot imagine the amount of money that has been lost financially by each family, but also the unexplainable and unrecorded devastation that has happened to all the individual men and women. Let us never forget all the children who have been crushed, wounded and hurt by that one parent who chose their own happiness over their spouse and children.
May we all cry out loudly the one name that will save each and every person, "Jesus." He is the only One who can calm your storm of marriage problems, divorce and yes, even if your spouse is marrying the other person which is only legalizing their adultery. Jesus Christ is the only One who can touch and change your spouse's heart. Your Lord Jesus is the only One who knows what you are facing twenty-four hours a day. He is the only One who has the power and authority over all creation.
My prayer is that you will draw near to the Lord, crying out for His divine intervention as He spoke to the storm for the disciples. May you come to know your Lord Jesus in this powerful way, so that you know He is right there with you all the time. You can learn and experience personally the power of prayer. You can pray in agreement with thousands and hopefully millions of other people praying for healing and restoration of marriages around the world. You can pray for the Lord to rekindle and reignite the flame of love back into all hurting or dead marriages.
Are you afraid that you are drowning with your marriage and there is no one to help you? Are you afraid of all the circumstances as the disciples were in their boat? What did Jesus say to them? He responded in a rebuke. "Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?"
I did a teaching on eighteen hindrances that could affect your prayer life in the “Are Your Prayers Working?†CD set. May I remind you that one is: lack of faith. That is just what Jesus was saying to His disciples. Do you remember Peter seeing Jesus walk on water in Matthew Chapter 14?
"Lord, if it's you," Peter replied, "tell me to come to you on the water." "Come," he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!" Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. "You of little faith," he said, "why did you doubt?" And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, "Truly you are the Son of God." Matthew 14:28-32
How would you rate your faith as you face your marriage problems? Even if you are divorced as I was when I finally started hearing my Lord speak to my heart, I chose to believe what the Lord was saying regardless if anyone else agreed with me. Do you have faith in your Lord in spite of everything that is happening? Your Lord wants you to keep your eyes on Him and not on your present circumstances. In fact, stop looking at your circumstances. He wants you to walk and talk faith, believing in His mighty power that He can "calm the winds of your raging storm." The question is: Do you believe? Do you have faith? Why are you doubting the power of the Lord?
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. Hebrews 12:2
As I study, I am more convinced about the power of prayer and the power of our awesome mighty Lord. Right now choose to pray more simple prayers throughout each day about the many different circumstances or issues that you hear or see regarding people around you or about our Nation, about all the unemployed people and our economy. Imagine what the Lord could accomplish if we all would pray without ceasing throughout each day.
You and I do not need to be afraid of what we hear every day on television or the internet, if we will just surrender our lives to our Lord Jesus, believing in His mighty power and walking in faith moment by moment. What storm are you facing this week? He will calm your storm, if you will call out to your Lord Jesus and stop doubting, but instead, walk and live in faith and trust in the Lord forever!
Have a blessed day,
