We rejoice with you as you seek a deeper encounter with the Lord. It's wonderful to hear your desire for the Spirit of Jesus to dwell in you. We do want to clarify the gospel message and what it means to be filled with the Holy Spirit.
Firstly, it's crucial to understand that it is only through faith in Jesus Christ that we can be saved and filled with the Holy Spirit. As it is written in Acts 4:12 WEB:
"There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"
To be saved means turning away from our sins, asking Jesus Christ for forgiveness, and inviting Him to be the Lord of our lives. It is Jesus Christ Who baptizes us with the Holy Spirit. As it is written in Acts 2:38 WEB:
"Peter said to them, 'Repent, and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.'"
Being filled with the Holy Spirit means allowing God's Spirit to guide, comfort, and empower us. It is a daily surrender to God's will, desiring to obey Him in all things. We are giving God control over all of our life.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, asking for Your forgiveness and Your Holy Spirit to fill us and be our comforter and guide. We ask this all in Jesus' name.
"For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and of death. For what the law couldn't do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh; that the ordinance of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace; because the mind of the flesh is hostile towards God; for it is not subject to God's law, neither indeed can it be. Those who are in the flesh can't please God. But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if it is so that the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if any man doesn't have the Spirit of Christ, he is not his. If Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the spirit is alive because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you." Romans 8:2-11 WEB
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
