We are truly sorry to hear about the struggle with alcoholism and the pain it has caused. First, we want to acknowledge the courage it took to reach out and ask for help. The first step towards change is recognizing the need for it, and you've taken that step.
In the Bible, God tells us, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28 WEB). Jesus offers rest and peace from the burdens we carry, including the burden of addiction.
We must also address that the request did not mention Jesus Christ. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. The Bible says, 'And in no other is there salvation, for neither is there any other name under heaven, given among men, by which we must be saved!' (Acts 4:12 WEB).
Now, let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you today, lifting up this dear soul who is struggling with alcoholism. We ask for your forgiveness, your healing, and your guidance. We know that you are a God of mercy, love, and compassion. Help them to overcome this addiction, just as the Apostle John tells us, 'The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I have come so that they may have life, and have it abundantly.' (John 10:10 WEB). In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray for strength and courage to overcome this addiction.
Father, guide them to supportive people, resources, and treatments that can help in overcoming alcoholism. We also pray for their emotional well-being, asking you to heal past hurts and provide a sense of peace and purpose.
Most of all, we pray for a deepening of their faith in Jesus Christ. May they find hope, healing, and transformation in a closer walk with Him. May they be the salt and the light of the world and a beacon of hope to others as they are delivered from this addiction.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to engage with a community of believers who can support and encourage you during this journey. The Bible tells us, "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up" (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 WEB).
Lastly, consider seeking professional help alongside spiritual support. There are many resources available to help overcome alcoholism, and we encourage you to explore those options.
