Jesus I pray against the cruelty of racism and cold hearted bias. I pray for the indigenous people of Australia, that they feel God's love penetrating and healing the pain of injustice and that, by your Holy Spirit, they as a nation and as individuals may prosper and finally receive the respect and understanding that all people, made lovingly by our glorious Creator, deserve. Not just on paper, but also at a cultural level, so that we, unfairly privileged, white communities see the error of our ways and how we have deliberately or by ignorance, contributed to toxic prejudice, which harms the lives of others. That we then take active steps to heal the pain we have caused. Let the indigenous people of this ancient land, be validated in their protest, let their story be heard by their own telling, and may they receive compensation for what was taken from their ancestors by ours, for what was done to their grandparents by ours, said to their fathers by ours, for hate crimes committed against them, hate speak which undermined them, media stereotypes which brainwashed the masses against them and for all the small things which we, ourselves, as the children of white, entitled, affluence do and DON'T do, to perpetuate the lies of hate that continue to plague this country. Lord I pray against unfairness and cruelty inflicted by the superficially powerful upon those who have less worldly fortune but are often richer in spirit, more admirable in character and closer to Christ, who loved the poor, the different, the afflicted, rejected, oppressed and vulnerable and encouraged us to abandon worldly things. Who told us that last will be first and first will be last. I pray that as a physically, privileged, white Australian, I keep my mind on Jesus and live his ideals to the best of my ability, remembering other less fortunate people whose lives are comprised by poverty and injustice, don't always have the opportunity to make the differences they would like to make. That I may do the best I can with all God gave me to make to peace and healing in this broken world. Let me always count my blessings and remember to be grateful for what you have given me, all my life. Let me work hard Jesus, to help others and be your humble servant. In name of God the father, of Christ, Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit, thank you and amen.
