Dexter2020, we understand that you're feeling disheartened and contemplating giving up on prayer. We want to encourage you and stand with you in prayer. In Jesus name we want you to know, firstly, that Jesus said in John 14:13 "Whatever you ask me in my name, I will do." and John 16:23 "Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you.". For it is only by the name of Jesus that we can approach God the Father with our requests according to John 16:26 "In that day you will ask in my name; and I do not say to you, that I will pray to the Father for you,". Then in John 14:6-7 Jesus said " I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him, and have seen him"
However, it's important to remember that God answers our prayers in His perfect timing and for His purposes. He assures us this in Isaiah 40:28-31 (WEB), He says, "Have you not known or heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, does not become tired or need rest. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no strength. Even the youths become tired and weary, and the young men will stumble and fall; but those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be tired. They will walk, and not be weary.". Yet, He also wants you to have what you want and to just ask. There are times when He won't give what you want because it doesn't align with His will. He goes on to confirm this in Matthew 21:22 "All things whatever you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive." James 4:3 puts it this way "You ask and do not receive because you ask with wrong motives so you may spend it on your pleasures.
Regarding marriage, we believe it's a godly desire to want to be married, and God has a plan for your life which includes a spouse if He has put a desire for marriage in you. God placed a desire for marriage to help us expand His kingdom and for relationship with us (Genesis 2:18 “Yahweh God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make him a helper comparable to him.’, Psalm 37:4 "Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart." But remember God cares about your character and attitude and in Him you have a relationship 1 Corinthians 7:17 "However, each person should lead the life to which God has called them, and live it according to God’s directions."" and Matthew 6:33 ""But seek first God’s kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well."
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come to you in the powerful name of Jesus, thanking You for Your unfailing love and faithfulness. Lord, we lift up Dexter2020, who is feeling discouraged and contemplating giving up on prayer. We cry out to Jesus on his behalf, your son. "In my distress I called to the LORD; I called out to my God. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.", Psalms 18:6. . Father, we ask that You renew his strength and help him to wait patiently on You. Help him to trust in Your perfect timing and to understand that Your thoughts and ways are higher than our own. Strengthen his faith through this waiting, and may he know this is only temporary. Help him to clearly hear Your directions and see Your plan regarding marriage and realize You are preparing him even now for when You do bring a mate into his life. May he be delighting in your presence and know that no matter what feelings he may have, those feelings do not determine your truth. Isaiah 26:3 "Yahweh in everlasting strength, Yahweh, in everlasting strength—his works of old are ever in our minds. To you, Yahweh in everlasting strength, Yahweh, in everlasting strength—his works of old are ever in our minds. To you, Yahweh, belongs perfect praise.
Thank you for your grace for us. Grace is undeserved help and blessing through Jesus Christ. In all of our earthly life we are finding our help to come from Jesus Christ only. Amen.
