JESUS - I AM
"I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!" John 8:58
On this Lord’s Day I pray that you will go to church and worship the King of Kings. Does your church have a Bible Study class on Sunday morning or possibly another night of the week? Be sure to try to attend a Bible study class to learn more about God’s Word and learn how to apply the Bible to your life and marriage. Have you developed a special quiet time with your Lord, reading your Bible and praying every day?
I love to read the Bible. But before you start reading God’s Word, ask the Holy Spirit to open your spiritual eyes and ears to hear the Lord’s message for you that day. Ask the Holy Spirit to mold and shape you into the man/woman, the husband/wife, or the parent that He wants you to become. When I read the Bible, often the Lord will speak to me through a passage of scripture or maybe a single verse. Then I will do a Bible reference on those verses. All of a sudden, I may have written ten scriptures that have magnified the verses, as the Holy Spirit speaks to me in a personal way or I have received another subject for a devotional. Allow the Lord to speak His Truths to you each and every day.
Our Bible study today is for you to know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. The Lord Jesus Christ spoke seven I AM statements, recorded in the Book of John. In fact, the Gospel of John records 38 names and titles for Jesus Christ.
Jesus talked to multitudes of people, as well as to His disciples. Jesus is speaking to you today. Jesus spoke seven descriptive words of who He was in this world. Jesus described Himself to the disciples and to the people metaphorically. You and I must know our Lord personally these seven powerful ways. As you read the seven I AM's, I hope you will do extra homework and read a few verses before and after each scripture that I have listed.
Now let me share the seven I AM’s. Jesus said:
I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE:
Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty." John 6:35
I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD:
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." John 8:12
I AM THE DOOR:
"I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture." John 10:9 (NKJV)
I AM THE GOOD SHEPHERD:
"I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep…I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me…" John 10:11, 14
I AM THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE:
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?" John 11:25-26
I AM THE WAY AND THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE:
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6
I AM THE VINE:
"I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener." John 15:1
As you read the "I AM's,†may I challenge you to examine your own heart and mind and ask, "Do I know the Lord Jesus this way?" If you do not, ask Him to reveal Himself in a new, more personal way. I believe your marriage will be restored more quickly if you know the Lord in these very special and unique ways. I know that you can walk in victory and live a victorious Christian life when you know your Lord personally in the seven "I AM's."
May I also challenge you through the 40 days before Easter to start another good discipline in your Christian life. Will you start memorizing one verse of scripture every week before Easter? Imagine knowing scriptures in your heart. Then I pray you will want to do it forever. There is nothing more powerful than hiding God’s Word in your heart. The Lord will then bring a scripture to your remembrance when you are going through a difficult time. Will you join us in hiding God's Word in your heart? Click here for more information.
Lent starts in many churches this week. Easter is April 20. May I challenge you to increase your prayers and fasting more than usual for the next 40 plus days before Easter. You are in a spiritual battle. Do you want your spouse to have a personal encounter with the Lord during this period of time? We are praying for the Holy Spirit to break all their strongholds, set all prodigals free from any and all addictions, open their eyes to the lies of the enemy and see and hear God’s truths which will set them free. We need to pray for thousands of prodigals to have godly sorrow which will bring them to repentance that will lead them to their salvation before or on Resurrection Sunday. (2 Corinthians 7:10) Will you join us in prayer and fasting? Click each link for more information on our Pray24 and Fast24 prayer teams. There is power in prayer when we are praying in unity for marriage restoration for thousands of prodigals and their spouses.
I do not want you to be defeated, living hopelessly, without any purpose because you have been wounded or abandoned by your spouse. Yes, it is devastating, but I want to introduce you to the one Person who can turn your upside down world, right side up. The I AM! You will be able to praise your Lord in the midst of your circumstances. It is a choice. It is up to you to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Jesus is the answer.
What are you going to do? Listen to the world or to the enemy's reports of defeat and hopelessness regarding your marriage? I pray that you will choose to pick up your cross and follow your Lord Jesus Christ. Spend time reading God's Word daily, learning how God created marriage and how He wants your marriage to be. Ask the Lord to be your husband for this season and know that He is going to meet all your needs for today. You must call His powerful Name, Jesus, as He is waiting for you! The Lord has not given up on your beloved spouse. Remember, He is the "I AM."
"Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches." Revelation 3:20-22
