Jesus fulfilled and fulfills the law.
The old covenant was abolished by Jesus Christ Roman 10:4 when Jesus established the new covenant Heb 8:6.
“For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.” Hebrews 8:7
Jesus spoke of the new covenant during the last supper Luke 22:20 and it came into effect after Jesus rose but more specifically at Pentacost Acts 2:1-4 .
We are under the spirit of the law and not the letter of the law. We are under His Grace.
‘But you go and figure out what this means: I will have mercy, and not sacrifice. No man sews a piece of new cloth on an old garment, or the patch will shrink and the tear will be worse. Neither do men put new wine into old bottles or the bottles break and the wine runs out and the bottles are ruined, but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are saved’ Matt 9:14-17.
Jesus was in fact teaching about the old law and about the law of grace. You cannot have new life while you still holding to the old one. You cannot be under grace while still under the law. They are not compatible.
It is impossible to serve Jesus the greater High Priest of this new covenant but still hang on to the inferior highpriests of the old.
We have our laws written in our hearts not on stone tablet. Jeremiah 31:33 .
When you become born-again your heart has been recalibrated to divine altruistic Love. You don't require a written law to instruct you not to harm anyone because your heart is set on benevolence, through the grace of God. You simply wouldn't think of harming anyone or having bad thoughts towards one another! You would not disrespect your parents, lust after someone's spouse, steal, or idolize another God. You wouldn't disrespect yourself by abusing your body or by placing an abomination in your heart. If you walk in the spirit of this Divine Love (Holy Spirit), you will not satisfy the desires of the flesh Gal 5:16 .
You cannot mix both covenants. Your Mediator is in the new, along with life eternal. In Revelations we read:

You chose to surrender to the Holy Spirit. Consequently His Love propels your actions. This means you can't help but fulfill God's laws, providing you don't step out of this arrangement.
