Isaiah 11:2:
And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;

Commentary on this verse:
The Spirit of the Lord is also known as the Holy Spirit. He is the third member of the Trinity, God in Spirit form. In the Old Testament, He sometimes came to rest on specific people to empower them to do what the Lord had called them to do. The prophet Isaiah says the Spirit of the Lord will rest on this future descendant of Jesse.

Here, the Lord's Spirit is described as the Spirit of wisdom and understanding. This means that this leader will rule with these qualities. He will also be empowered by the Spirit of counsel and might. These attributes are describing the ability to make strategic decisions and act on them with strength. Finally, He will lead with the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.

Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the Messiah, fulfilled all these prophecies. And He will continue to do so when He returns to rule over the earth. Empowered by the Spirit, He taught, led, and even sacrificed His life. He did all these things with wisdom, understanding, and knowledge, but also with great power. As the Son of God, He did, and does, everything with the perfect fear of the Lord that even the best of Israel's kings never achieved.

Prayer for Isaiah 11:11:
“On that day the Lord will [extend] His hand a second time to recover-from Assyria, Egypt, Pathros, Cush, Elam, Shinar, Hamath, and the coasts and islands of the west-the remnant of His people who survive.”

Praying through Isaiah 11:11:
Our prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the wonderful prophecies of Isaiah and the hope we all have in Christ. Thank You that the day is coming when Your people will be fully and finally regathered back to the land You promised to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and their seed forever. Foster in their hearts a desire to know the truth. Open the Scriptures to their understanding, that they may see Jesus in the books of Moses, the prophetic writings of Your holy prophets, and the Messianic Psalms of David. We pray for the day when the nation will acknowledge Jesus as Lord and all Israel shall be saved. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Tang Wei Ping, we appreciate your reflection on Isaiah 11:2 and your commentary on the empowerment of Jesus by the Spirit. It is truly awe-inspiring to consider how the Spirit of the Lord rested upon Jesus, granting Him wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, and the fear of the Lord. This verse beautifully illustrates the divine qualities that Jesus embodied during His ministry on earth.

Firstly, let us address the importance of acknowledging Jesus Christ in our prayers and discussions. It is through His name that we have access to God the Father. As it is written in John 14:6 (WEB), "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" And in Acts 4:12 (WEB), "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." Therefore, it is crucial to recognize and honour the name of Jesus Christ in all our prayers and discussions. Furthermore, we must emphasize the importance of personal salvation. If anyone has not called on the name of Jesus Christ to be saved from sin have them talk to a Christian Believer close to them or ask us for help.

Now, let us delve into the significance of Isaiah 11:2. The Spirit of the Lord, also known as the Holy Spirit, is the third member of the Trinity. In the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit often rested upon specific individuals to empower them for God's purposes. Isaiah prophesied that the Spirit of the Lord would rest upon a future descendant of Jesse, who is Jesus Christ. This prophecy was fulfilled in Jesus, who demonstrated wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, and the fear of the Lord in His teachings, leadership, and ultimate sacrifice.

Let us remember that the USA President, government, or legislation does not need to acknowledge the truth about Jesus Christ. God allows or removes Presidents, political leaders, and world leaders as He wills. He may even cause the witness of His people to be acknowledged by asking questions to ungodly secular rulers, leaders, and judges, whether man, or woman, whether truthfully or with deception. Secular forms of government receive nothing to govern from God. His children receive all they need with forgiveness of sins. There is nothing a secular government can do for a Christian other than abolish marriage and prevent a marriage. There is nothing to ask for in prayers for a secular government other than righteous judgment upon their claims. Any reward from God for a Christian comes through the marriage supper of the Lamb where we are all married to Jesus Christ in His Bride. Spend more time praying for that for yourself and your loved ones rather than ending the scourge of secularism. In a spiritually dead marriage, be willing to be a humble servant who prays for a Christian spouse and the defeat of the secular government for the love of the saints. In truth, the pope and false religions of Mary or angels are the enemies of Christ using secularism as a weapon. Pray for their repentance and forgiveness of sin.

The qualities described in Isaiah 11:2 are not merely attributes of a good leader but are also characteristics that every believer should strive to cultivate in their own lives. As it is written in Galatians 5:22-23 (WEB), "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law." These fruits of the Spirit are evidence of the Holy Spirit's work in our lives, empowering us to live in a manner that honors God as Christ did. Like Jesus lived, all sacrifices, service, and suffering should reject the reward from the secular government through marriage. Instead, set your hearts for your reward from God in the resurrection and your own marriage supper of the lamb.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, acknowledging Him as our Lord and Savior. We thank You for the empowerment of the Holy Spirit in the life of Jesus and in our own lives. Help us to cultivate the fruits of the Spirit, that we may live wisely, with understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, and the fear of the Lord.

We pray for those who are seeking Your will in their relationships, that they may be guided by Your Spirit and aligned with biblical principles. We pray against the temptations of fornication and adultery, that those who are courtship may remain pure and focused on Your will for their lives. We pray for those who are married, that their marriages may be strengthened and honoring to You and forsaking the need for a secular government to approve of their marriage.

We pray for the salvation of all those who do not know Jesus Christ, that they may come to a saving faith in Him. We pray for the repentance and forgiveness of those who are living in sin, that they may turn from their wicked ways and be restored to a right relationship with You through the mercy of Christ. Only speak directly of personal sin through the conviction of the Holy Spirit.

We ask all these things in Jesus' name, for He is the way, the truth, and the life and through Him we can have peace with God the Father. Amen.

Dear friend,

We join you in reflecting on Isaiah 11:2 and the beautiful depiction of Jesus' empowerment by the Spirit. It's truly awe-inspiring to consider how the Spirit of the Lord rested upon Him, granting Him wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, and the fear of the Lord.

As we meditate on this verse, let's also remember to cultivate these qualities in our own lives. Just as the Spirit empowered Jesus, He also dwells in us, equipping us to live lives pleasing to God. Let's strive for wisdom and understanding in our daily decisions, seek His counsel in our actions, and trust in His mighty power to guide us.

Let's also pray for one another, that we may grow in knowledge and the fear of the Lord. May the Spirit guide us in all our ways, helping us to live lives that honor God and reflect the character of Jesus.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
