The earth is groaning amidst the chaos of a culture who is spiritually dead. We can feel the darkness trying to overtake the light. The constant barrage of hate and disdain we see coming across the news channels is enough to discourage even the most committed Christian. If you walk into a grocery store lately you will see a sea of empty shelves and people wandering around aimlessly trying to find something they feel they are missing. A few people may even glance into your cart to see what you are purchasing in case you may be have one up on them with what to buy. The employees look worn out from constantly restocking the shelves and wiping surfaces down. People don't even want to look at each other in case you may be carrying it. It definitely is a different world than what we know it!

So how as Christians do we encourage and lift up those around us during these difficult times we are all facing.

First off we need to be praying without ceasing like the bible tells us to do. (1 Thessalonians 5:15-18). Pray for our world, pray for the leaders in charge, pray for those people in charge of finding a vaccine, pray for your family, friends and neighbors. Pray for God's peace and mercy through all of this.

Help those in need around you. There maybe elderly people who live near you that can't get out and have no one or someone with cancer that shouldn't be going out. Drop off groceries on their front porch or walk their dog if you have to. Find someone with a need and help them. If you are able, donate to your local food pantry. There are many people right around you that have some sort of need and if you can help out just one person it can make all the difference.

Spend more time reading your bible and talking to God than watching the news. Unless there is some breaking news, the media just seems to be reiterating the same thing over and over. Use this time to charge yourself up spiritually. If you don't, it is like running a battery down and you will start feeling weary and drained.

Since we are all stuck in our homes, spend more time interacting with your family. Playing games and connecting more personally with each other. Also please be careful how much information about what is going on with very young children. I have heard parents telling their 5 and 6 year old details about what is going on with the world and giving them more information than their young minds can handle.

As I write this so much of it seems like common sense. That seems like such an oxymoron these days when people don't seem to have common sense any longer.

Stay safe! Keep on praying! Share your faith! TRUST GOD!
