Can one who commits suicide be saved? Suicide is Not the answer!
A + A - RESET
PRINTPDFEMAIL
Suicide is a grave sin equivalent to murder (Exodus 20:13; 21:23), but it can be forgiven like any other sin. And Scripture says clearly that those redeemed by God have been forgiven for all their sins--past, present, and future (Colossians 2:13-14). Paul says in Romans 8:38-39 that nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.
So if a true Christian would commit suicide in a time of extreme weakness, he or she would be received into heaven (Jude 24). But we question the faith of those who take their lives or even consider it seriously--it may well be that they have never been truly saved.
That's because God's children are defined repeatedly in Scripture as those who have hope (Acts 24:15; Romans 5:2-5, 8:24; 2 Corinthians 1:10, etc.) and purpose in life (Luke 9:23-25; Romans 8:28; Colossians 1:29). And those who think of committing suicide do so because they have neither hope nor purpose in their lives.
Furthermore, one who repeatedly considers suicide is practicing sin in his heart (Proverbs 23:7), and 1 John 3:9 says that "no one who is born of God practices sin." And finally, suicide is often the ultimate evidence of a heart that rejects the lordship of Jesus Christ, because it is an act where the sinner is taking his life into his own hands completely rather than submitting to God's will for it. Surely many of those who have taken their lives will hear those horrifying words from the Lord Jesus at the judgment--"I never knew you; Depart from me, you who practice lawlessness" (Matthew 7:23).
So though it may be possible for a true believer to commit suicide, we believe that is an unusual occurrence. Someone considering suicide should be challenged above all to examine himself to see whether he is in the faith (2 Corinthians 13:5).

NO. No one has authority on his life. Lord the creator blue the holy spirit in you and that dwells in you. One may commit suicide to escape from worldly problems. But his body will suffer more in the hell . So one has to read His words ,pray and seek His help ,blessings .

According to the Bible, suicide is a sin. It is not the “greatest” sin—it is no worse than other evils, in terms of how God sees it, and it does not determine a person’s eternal destiny because it is not the unforgivable sin. May God grant His grace to each one who is facing trials today (Psalm 67:1). And may each of us take hope in the promise, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10:13).

The Bible mentions six specific people who committed suicide: Abimelech (Judges 9:54), Saul (1 Samuel 31:4), Saul’s armor-bearer (1 Samuel 31:4–6), Ahithophel (2 Samuel 17:23), Zimri (1 Kings 16:18), and Judas (Matthew 27:5). Five of these men were noted for their wickedness (the exception is Saul’s armor-bearer—nothing is said of his character). Some consider Samson’s death an instance of suicide, because he knew his actions would lead to his death (Judges 16:26–31), but Samson’s goal was to kill Philistines, not himself.

Suicide is a violation of God’s command to not murder (Exodus 20:13). We can murder ourselves! But when Jesus forgives, He forgives all of our past sins, present sins, and future sins. Jesus has forgiven all of the sins of a person who believes Him – from the moment one believes or trusts Him to forgive their sins. His forgiveness is so complete that it includes even those sins that we might not have time to confess before we die. Learn more on the page Searching for God.

Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies; who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? . . . But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:33-39 (NASB)

Do not condone suicide in any way lest the blood of those who heed your false teaching be on your hands.

The reason I say that those who commit suicide may not be saved, even if they have made a commitment to Christ is that Christianity is more than praying the sinner’s prayer. As I’ve posted in the past, the sinner’s prayer never saved anyone. Also, as Jesus put it in Matthew 10:21-22, “Brother will deliver brother over to death, and the father his child, and children will rise against parents and have them put to death, and you will be hated by all for my name’s sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.”

Hebrews 3:14 tells us: “For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end.” In other words, it is the expectation of Scripture that Christians must continue to honor God until He takes them home. It’s not about whether suicide is unforgivable (the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is the only unforgivable sin and I’ve written an article about that), it’s about whether the person who commits suicide actually had a saving faith to the end. Also, suicide is self-murder and 1 John 3:15 says, “Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.” These verses should scare any Christian contemplating suicide and that’s a good thing.

Partially this is an issue as to whether a person can lose their salvation or was never saved in the first place. I’ve also posted on this in “Can Christians Lose Their Salvation? Yes and No.” In short, both Calvin and Arminius agreed on one point. If at one time a person claimed to be a Christian but later stopped believing and died in that position, then both Calvin and Arminius agreed that the person isn’t saved.

Now some may be angry that I would dare suggest that this or that person who claimed to be a Christian but committed suicide might not be saved. Often Christians bring up the fact that the person who committed suicide was mentally ill. Some will say things like “only God knows the heart” and, “God can forgive anything.” But, I’m not pronouncing that Christians who commit suicide, whether mentally ill or not, are not saved. I’m saying that we shouldn’t pronounce either way whether self-identified Christians who commit suicide are saved. That will be revealed at the Judgment where, as Paul put it in 1 Corinthians 4:5, the Lord will “bring to light the things hidden in the darkness and disclose the motives of men’s hearts.” The Lord is gracious and He will be fair.

We need to beware being so desperate to console ourselves over the dead that we don’t consider the damage we might do to the living. If Christians pronounce that Christians who commit suicide are saved, then they will embolden others in the Christian community to commit suicide. Such a pronouncement, such a judgment, is without scriptural support and hurts Christians tempted by suicide. Christians shouldn’t do anything to encourage those suffering mentally or physically to take their lives. We should love them and encourage them to live for Jesus.

Amen! I am neither condoning nor judging but, only quoting what the scholars are saying, since so many are attempting suicide and some already have due to these very tough times. My prayers and thoughts are with them and their families, may the Lord draw them all closer to Him. He is the judge and knows our Hearts, but we Are to Fear Him. God help us All in these Last Hours. Praise Yahshua Amen!🔥🙌🙏
