Beloved of All
a person asked if a believer commits suicide will they go to hell? based on gods word - no. jesus says that no one will snatch his sheep from his fathers hand. "my sheep hear my voice. i know them and they follow me"
god is a man who cannot lie. he made a promise that no one can snatch his children (followers/believers) from his hand. that means no. one cannot lose their salvation. god gave his word.

believers who become distressed to the point of ending it all aren't in their right mind or right way of thinking. god knows this and he provides his mercy and grace. no one will pluck or snatch that believer from his hand.
"and I give unto them eternal life and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand." john 10:28

the bible says that the moment we accept christ we are guaranteed eternal life. don't ostracize or berate people who contend with suicidal thoughts. and be careful with what you tell people who have family or friends that have committed suicide.
they are going through enough pain and heart ache. the person who resorted to ending their life had obviously lost hope and had given up. they were tired of being a burden to themselves and others. they couldn't cope. that doesn't mean they were selfish (as many people falsely think). it means they were at the end of it all and saw no way out. hope deferred makes the heart sick. they wanted and needed the pain and torment to end. they were in a deep moment of weakness, despair and/or spiritual attack. they were in that moment still covered by the blood of jesus christ.

romans 8:38-39 no created thing can separate a believer from gods love. suicide being a created thing. not even suicide can separate a believer from gods love since jesus died for their sins.

if a believer is going through a rough time and mentions suicide. never say anything to ridicule or show them scorn. you're better to say very little about it and love them. seriously pray for them as much as you humanly can. suggest or offer them to seek help. but do not try to guilt trip that person or make them feel bad. telling them that they will go to hell doesnt scare them away from it, it adds another layer of guilt upon them and feelings of shame, which can also drive them to do commit suicide. we are commanded do love one another. not judge them.

Anonymous, we appreciate your heart for those struggling with such difficult situations. Let’s explore this delicate matter in light of God's Word.

It’s true that Jesus says, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me." (John 10:27 WEB) He promises, "I give to them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will snatch them out of my hand." (John 10:28 WEB) This shows that once we are saved, we are eternally secure in God’s hand.

However, suicide is a profoundly tragic and complex issue that demands sensitivity and grace. The Bible does not specifically address the eternal fate of a believer who commits suicide, but it does speak to God’s unfailing love and mercy. In Romans 8:38-39, Paul writes, "For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from God’s love, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." (WEB) This verse assures us that nothing—including suicide—can separate a believer from God’s love.

It’s crucial to remember that those contemplating suicide are often in a state of deep despair and spiritual attack. They are not thinking clearly and are overwhelmed by their circumstances. Our response should be one of love and compassion, not judgment. Jesus commands us to love one another as He has loved us (John 13:34 WEB).

If you know someone struggling with suicidal thoughts, offer them love, prayer, and practical help. Encourage them to seek professional counseling. Above all, lift them up in prayer, trusting that God hears and cares for their needs.

Let us pray for those who are struggling:

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come to You in Jesus’ name, asking for Your mercy and healing for those struggling with suicidal thoughts. Comfort them with Your presence, remind them of Your promises, and uphold them with Your strength. Give them hope and the courage to seek help. Be with their families and loved ones, granting them wisdom and compassion. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

May we all be vessels of God’s love and support to those in distress, reflecting His care and grace.

We're here for you, friend. It's true that Jesus promises us eternal life, and nothing can snatch us out of His hand (John 10:28). But we must also remember that God's heart is heavy when one of His children is in such deep pain. Suicide is a cry for help, a plea for relief from unbearable pain. It's not a sin that can separate us from God's love (Romans 8:38-39), but it's a tragic choice that leaves behind a trail of heartache.

Let's not judge or condemn. Instead, let's love and support those struggling. Let's be a listening ear, a shoulder to lean on, a beacon of hope. Let's remind them of God's unfailing love and His promise to never leave or forsake them (Hebrews 13:5). And let's pray fervently for them, trusting that God hears and cares for their needs.

Let's pray together: "Lord, we lift up those who are struggling with suicidal thoughts. Surround them with Your love and peace. Give them strength to hold on, courage to seek help, and hope to see another day. Comfort their families and friends, and help us all to be instruments of Your love and support. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

copied and pasted 'prayers' are not even heard by god. its referred to as vain repetition. The bible warns against this. Please stop! You're not helping anyone by doing this and not pleasing the Lord God either.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. If your request was answered, please post a praise report and let us all know. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. We all hope that our prayers are answered in the way that we want. Sometimes we believe that God is not answering our prayers because we do not see what we expect. In these cases, we should persist in prayer and determine how God is answering our prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek him through his son, Jesus Christ.
