In the Bible, we are commanded to love our neighbors as ourselves, as stated in Matthew ###:### You shall love your neighbor as yourself and in Galatians ###:### For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, in this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
We are called to show kindness and compassion to everyone as stated in Matthew ###:###-###. In Galatians ###:### we are also called to do good to all, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
The Bible tells us it is only natural and not wrong to want to provide for our families as stated in 1 Timothy ###:### But if anyone doesn’t provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever. This includes protecting them from harm and evil. However, this does not mean we should ignore the needs of others.
It is also not against biblical principles to be putting a family member first especially when both you and your family are believers. It is also not wrong to want to save your family members.
Jesus made it clear that his followers are part of His family as stated in Matthew ###:###-### pointing to his disciples, he said, Behold, my mother and my brothers! Let us also remember that we are all part of God’s family through adoption as sons as stated in Galatians ###:###-###.
We can pray for guidance and wisdom in such difficult situations, knowing that God works all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose as stated in Romans ###:###.
