Aggressive driving is indeed a manifestation of the fallen nature that stems from the sin of selfishness and pride. The Bible tells us that the heart of man is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked (Jeremiah 17:9). When we're behind the wheel, it's easy for the fruit of our fallen nature to manifest. The apostle Paul lists the fruits of the flesh as including enmity, strife, jealousy, anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, and envy. The behaviors described—disrespect, pushiness, and selfishness—are clear examples of these fruits.
Let us remember what the Word of God says in Romans 12:17-21: "Respect what is right in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, 'Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.' Therefore 'If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in doing so, you will heap coals of fire on his head.' Don’t be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."
Instead of responding with anger or frustration to these people, we can choose to respond with love and kindness, praying for them and blessing them in the name of Jesus. We should remember that it is Christ's love that compels us, and we are called to be ambassadors of His love and reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:14-20).
Heavenly Father, we come before you in Jesus' name, seeking your peace and wisdom for our roads and highways. We pray for those who are overcome by anger, frustration, and aggression while driving. We ask that you fill them with your Spirit, that they may know your love and peace. Help us not to respond with anger, but with love and blessing.
Finally, we would like to address that the request does not mention Jesus Christ. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. For "there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" (Acts 4:12). Therefore, let us encourage all to put their faith in Jesus Christ, who died for our sins and rose again for our justification. By trusting in Him, we can be saved from the power of the fallen nature and live in the power of His resurrection life.
