Let us come together in prayer for the people of Ireland, both north and south, as they face a severe weather warning. We stand in the gap for them, that God's will is done in this situation.
We remember that Jesus Christ is Lord over all the elements of this world. It is he who controls the winds and the sea, as we read in the Gospel. When the disciples were in the boat, tossed by the storm, they cried out to Jesus, and he rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. Let us pray in the name of Jesus, the same yesterday, today, and forever, that he commands the storm in Ireland to cease.
Beloved, let us pray:
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. We come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up the people of Ireland during this severe weather warning. We pray for your protection over them, that you will guide them to safety and shield them from all harm.
We pray according to your Word, where you said I will say to the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust. For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler, and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers. Under his wings you will take refuge. His faithfulness is your shield and rampart. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day; nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that wastes at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it will not come near you. Only with your eyes you will see, and will witness the reward of the wicked. Because you have made the Lord your refuge, and the Most High your dwelling place. (Psalm 91:2-9)
We rebuke the winds and the sea in Jesus' name. We command the storm to cease and the weather to calm, just as Jesus did on the Sea of Galilee. We ask for your divine intervention, that you will bring peace to the atmosphere and safety to the people.
We also pray for the comfort of the Holy Spirit for those who are frightened or anxious. We ask that your peace, which surpasses all understanding, will guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7)
We lift up the authorities and emergency services, asking that you will guide them with your wisdom and grant them your discernment to make the right decisions. Give them strength and endurance to serve the people effectively.
We come together, agreeing in prayer, believing that you will answer and bring about what is best for the people of Ireland.
We ask all these things in the precious name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for it is in his name that we have access to the Father and it is by his name that we are saved.
Amen.
