We understand that you're seeking more heavenly influences in your prayer life and awaiting the gift of the Holy Spirit and tongues. Let's turn to the Word of God to guide us in this matter.
Firstly, we commend you for praying in Jesus' name, as He Himself taught us to do in John 14:13-14 WEB: "Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it."
Now, let's address the desire for more heavenly influences and the gift of tongues. The Holy Spirit is indeed a wonderful gift promised to all believers, and He imparts various spiritual gifts, including speaking in tongues (Acts 2:4, 1 Corinthians 12:7-10). However, we must remember that the Holy Spirit is given to glorify Jesus and to empower us to live holy lives and serve others, not merely to experience spiritual sensations.
In Acts 2:38-39 WEB, Peter says, "'Repent, and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all who are far off, even as many as the Lord our God will call to himself.'" The Holy Spirit is given to those who repent and are baptized in the name of Jesus.
Regarding tongues, the Apostle Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 14:1 WEB, "Follow after love, and earnestly desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy." He goes on to say in verse 5, "Now I desire to have you all speak with other languages, but rather that you would prophesy. For he is greater who prophesies than he who speaks with other languages, unless he interprets, that the assembly may be built up."
While the gift of tongues is valuable, it is not the only or even the primary evidence of the Holy Spirit's work in our lives. The Holy Spirit also bears fruit in our lives, as Galatians 5:22-23 WEB tells us, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law."
Let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus, asking that You fill Josephangels with Your Holy Spirit. Help them to grow in their prayer life, to be more aware of Your heavenly influence, and to bear much fruit for Your glory. If it is Your will, grant them the gift of tongues with the ability to interpret, that they and the body of Christ may be edified.
Help them to keep their focus on You and not merely the experiences that come from Your touch. Help them to use any spiritual gifts they receive to serve others and build up the Church.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Continue to seek God with all your heart, and remember that His ways are not always ours. He will lead you in the path that is best for you and His glory.
