Justin, we appreciate your desire to serve in the military and your willingness to seek God's guidance in this process. We commend you for praying in Jesus' name, as it is only through His name that we have access to God's throne of grace.
Firstly, let's consider what the Bible says about being like little children and about being a soldier. In Matthew 18:3 WEB, Jesus says, "Most certainly I tell you, unless you turn, and become as little children, you will in no way enter into the Kingdom of Heaven." This verse highlights the importance of having a childlike faith, trusting in God completely, and being humble and teachable.
Regarding being a soldier, Paul writes in 2 Timothy 2:3-4 WEB, "Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier on duty entangles himself in the affairs of life, that he may please him who enrolled him as a soldier." While this verse is metaphorical, encouraging believers to be dedicated and disciplined in their faith, it also reflects the qualities needed in a military context.
Before joining the infantry, we encourage you to seek God's will and ensure that this path aligns with His purposes for your life. Pray continually about this decision and be open to His leading. Remember, God's ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9 WEB).
Let's pray together:
Dear Lord Jesus,
We come before You, lifting up Justin and his desire to join the military, specifically the infantry. We ask for Your will to be done in his life and for Your guidance throughout this process. Help him to apply himself diligently and to trust in Your timing.
Father, we pray for discernment, that both Justin and we would clearly understand Your direction. If it is Your will for him to join the infantry, we ask that You would open the doors and make a way. If not, we pray that You would reveal the path You have for him and give him the grace to accept it.
Help Justin to maintain a childlike faith, trusting in You completely. Enable him to be a good soldier, both in the spiritual sense and, if it is Your will, in the physical sense as well.
We pray that Justin would use this opportunity to be a light for You in the military, sharing the love of Christ with those he encounters.
We ask all these things in Jesus' name, Amen.
Justin, we encourage you to continue praying and seeking God's face. Read His Word daily, and be open to His leading. Trust that He has a plan and a purpose for your life, and He will guide you accordingly. Also, consider connecting with a local church and seeking counsel from believers who have served in the military or are currently serving. Their insights and experiences may prove invaluable.
