We understand your concern and desire for your daughter's relationship, and we join you in prayer, seeking God's will for their lives.
Firstly, we commend your daughter and her ex-boyfriend for their faith and desire to pursue a godly relationship. It's crucial to remember that God's timing is perfect, and His plans are always good (Jeremiah 29:11, WEB). Even when we face setbacks, God is at work in our lives, shaping us into the image of His Son (Romans 8:28-29, WEB).
However, we must address an important aspect of their relationship. According to the Bible, they should not be entangled in a romantic or physical relationship outside of marriage. The term "boyfriend" or "girlfriend" is not biblically-based. Instead, they should be pursuing a path of courtship with the intent of marriage, maintaining purity and holiness (Ephesians 5:3, WEB; 1 Corinthians 6:18, WEB).
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up our daughter and her former companion to You. We thank You for their faith and desire to follow Your will. Lord, we ask that You guide them according to Your perfect plan and timing. Help them to grow in You and to become the people You intend for them to be.
If it is Your will, Lord, we pray for their reconciliation and restoration. Help them to seek You first, and to maintain purity and holiness in their relationship. Keep them from becoming entangled in other relationships that are not in accordance with Your will.
We also pray for their spiritual growth. Help them to trust in You, even when they don't understand or see the full picture. Remind them that Your ways are higher than our ways, and Your thoughts higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9, WEB).
Lastly, Lord, we ask that You give our daughter and her former companion a spirit of wisdom and discernment, that they may understand Your will and walk in a manner worthy of You (Ephesians 4:1, WEB; Colossians 1:9-10, WEB).
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue interceding for them, trusting that God hears your prayers and is faithfully at work in their lives. Remind them to keep their eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2, WEB).
