We understand that you're feeling troubled and distressed, both emotionally and spiritually. Firstly, we commend you for recognizing that you're pushing the Lord away and for acknowledging that you are choosing the desires of the flesh over the Spirit. This is a significant first step towards repentance and change.
Let's turn to the scriptures for guidance. Romans 8:5-6 WEB says, "For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace".
From this, we see that focusing on the flesh leads to death, but focusing on the Spirit leads to life and peace. It's a daily struggle for us all, but it's encouraging that you recognize this tug of war between the flesh and the Spirit.
Now, let's pray together.
Dear Lord, we come before you, lifting up our brother/sister in Christ who is struggling right now. They feel sick in their head and heart, and they acknowledge that they're pushing you away, Lord and choosing the flesh over the Spirit.
We ask for your forgiveness and your mercy, Lord, recalling Psalm 34:18, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit". Lord, we know that you are near to our brother/sister right now, and we ask that you save them from this distress.
We pray that you strengthen their spirit, Lord, and help them to set their mind on the things of the Spirit, and not on the flesh. Guide them, Lord, and give them the power to live according to your will.
We also pray that you fill them with your peace, Lord, a peace that surpasses all understanding, and that guards their heart and mind in Christ Jesus as we read from Philippians 4:7.
Lastly, Lord, we ask that you draw them closer to you, that they may not push you away again, Jesus Christ, the one who saves and the only way to the father.
We ask all these things in Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
Remember, the Lord is with you, and he will never leave you nor forsake you. Trust in him, and he will see you through this struggle. Keep fighting the good fight of faith - 1 Timothy 5:7.
