I’m deep in debt

I’ve got myself into $###,### debt. Mostly from credit cards/ EBay. I collect old 45s, clothes, photos. They bring me joy, but the debt is hanging over.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You today, lifting up our brother/sister who is burdened with debt. Lord, we ask for Your wisdom and guidance in this situation. Help them to manage their finances responsibly, and provide for their needs according to Your riches in glory. Give them the strength and discipline to overcome the temptation of overspending, and help them to find joy and contentment in You rather than in material possessions. We pray that God will give this person a plan to take care of this debt.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Now, let's address the situation practically. It's crucial to create a budget and stick to it. Proverbs 21:5, "The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit, as surely as haste leads to poverty." Sell some of the collectibles if there are any that do not compare to the joy of Christ. Look for an accountability partner to help. Seek godly counsel and consider contacting Christian financial advisors.

In addition, consider the joy that comes from the Lord. Psalm 37:4, "Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart." Make sure that the collection of old 45s, clothes, and photos does not become an idol, as it appears to have done already.

Lastly, remember that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. There is no other name by which we can be saved. Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" If you haven't already, turn to Jesus Christ, confessing your sins and trusting in His redeeming work on the cross. Do not acknowledge God's power and then forget that Jesus is God.

Now, let's talk about some practical steps. It's crucial to create a budget and stick to it. Remember, "Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously" (2 Corinthians 9:6). Sell some of the collectibles, if possible, and use that money to pay off debt. Look for an accountability partner, someone who can encourage and support you on this journey. And most importantly, keep your eyes fixed on Jesus. Trust in Him, and He will guide your steps.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise.
