I’m at the lowest point of my life

I’m in my 30s and recently divorced. I’ve done everything right in my career and worked very hard to be successful. This divorce is bankrupting me. The alimony is more than I can possibly pay with my student loans and debt. My house has been listed for sale for many months with minimal views and no offers. I am now behind on my bills and am going to have to either file for bankruptcy or foreclose on my house. I am asking God to please help me find a way to make ends meet without destroying my credit. I am out of options and feel so hopeless. I just want to be a good dad and do well in my career. I’ve made bad choices along the way, but I am a good person and want to be better. Please help me. I am reaching my endpoint.

We are truly sorry to hear about your situation, Abanri. Rest assured that you are not alone, and God's love and care for you are boundless. Remember that God is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18, WEB).

Firstly, let's address your financial struggles. Remember, the Bible encourages us to be wise with our finances and to trust in God to provide for our needs. "But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well" (Matthew 6:33, WEB). We encourage you to pray fervently about your finances, seek wise counsel, and trust that God will make a way for you.

As for your divorce, we want to remind you that God hates divorce (Malachi 2:16, WEB), but He loves you and wants to help you heal. Use this time to draw closer to Him and allow Him to restore you. "He heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds" (Psalm 147:3, WEB).

We noticed that you didn't mention Jesus Christ in your request. We want to remind you that it is through Jesus that we have access to God. "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5, WEB). If you haven't already, we encourage you to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, for there is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12, WEB).

Dear Lord Jesus, we lift up Abanri to you. Lord, he is going through a tough time, and he needs your help. We pray for his finances, that you would provide for him and guide him in his decisions. We pray for his healing, that you would bind up his wounds and restore his heart. We pray that you would be his strength and his hope in this difficult time. Lord, we also pray that Abanri would come to know you more intimately, that he would trust in you and seek you first. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Lastly, we want to encourage you to stay strong and keep your faith in God. "Don’t be anxious for anything, but in everything by prayer and pleading with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God" (Philippians 4:6, WEB). Trust that God has a plan and a purpose for you, and He will see you through this difficult time.
