1John5:14-15
Disciple of Prayer
I’d like to request prayer again. As I’ve said in an earlier post, 4 years ago, my wife received a diagnosis of schizophrenia and she still doesn’t want to believe that she has it.
Instead, she has convinced herself that God is causing demons to torment her mind and she thinks she can’t be free until she has completed whatever tasks “god” is telling her to do.
She gets angry at me and says I’m a “worthless” husband who has “no authority” to make them leave but then flip flops and says they won’t leave until she finishes “god’s” work. Then, she says, god will leave her alone.
I have watched her behavior the last 4 years and I’m convinced her condition is mainly biochemical. I do believe demons can cause mental illness-I just don’t think that is the case here.
I’m not saying demons have never tried to get a foothold during the course of this illness---I have observed times when demons have tried to agitate her and when I’ve seen that happening I commanded them to leave and it worked.
So, I started to pray daily and command demons to not touch her and I haven’t sensed demonic involvement in a long time.
Which brings me to my prayer request:

- I believe God has told me again and again that my wife has a physical illness, but she’s pressuring me to get the demons off of her even though I don’t believe they are the cause of her illness. Am I right or is there something demonic going on that I don't perceive? I ask for discernment to know what's physical and what's spiritual in nature.
- If I tell demons to go and there aren’t any there, the end result will be that she will still have mental problems. What conclusion will she come to then? I doubt she will say that she isn’t possessed, just that I couldn’t make them leave!
- My counselor told me to not debate with her or try to convince her that her beliefs are wrong because that will only drive a wedge between us. I need for God to reveal the truth to BOTH of us.
- I would like for her to start taking medications that would help her think better, but my ultimate goal is to see her healed completely. I need results soon because she is growing more desperate.
