We understand your deep desire for a companion, marriage, and a family, as it is a natural and God-given longing. Firstly, we want to assure you that God cares about your needs and dreams. We are reminded in Psalm 37:4, "Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart," and in Psalm 145:19 "He will fulfill the desire of those who fear him. He also will hear their cry, and will save them."
However, it is crucial to approach this desire in a way that honors God and aligns with biblical principles. We should not be looking for just any companion but rather we are looking for a godly spouse. We are advised in 2 Corinthians 6:14, "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" Therefore, we encourage you to seek a man who not only loves you genuinely but, more importantly, loves God wholeheartedly.
As you wait, remember that God's timing is perfect. The fact that you have been single for a while does not mean that God has forgotten you. Rather, He may be preparing you and your future spouse for each other. We encourage you to use this season of singleness to draw closer to God, grow in your faith, and become the person He created you to be. Isaiah 64:4 states "For since the beginning of the world, men have not heard nor perceived by the ear, neither has the eye seen, O God, besides you, what he has prepared for him who waits for him."
It is also important to remember that a godly marriage is not just about finding the right person, but also about being the right person. Proverbs 31:10-31 outlines the qualities of a noble wife, and Colossians 3:18-19 instructs wives to submit to their husbands and husbands to love their wives.
Now, let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ lifting up this dear sister who desires a godly marriage and family. Father, we ask that You will guide her steps and lead her to a man who fears You and treats her with love and respect. We pray that You will prepare both of their hearts for marriage and give them wisdom to discern Your will.
In the meantime, Father, help her to grow in her relationship with You, and to become the woman You created her to be. Help her to trust in Your perfect timing and to rest in Your unfailing love. And we ask all these things in the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ, for you have made it clear that no man comes to the Father except through Him. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Lastly, we want to encourage you to always pray in Jesus' name and encourage others to do the same. John 14:6 states "Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."
