We understand that Brian Phe and Ting Poh Yew are seeking guidance in transitioning away from a vegan lifestyle that has led to feelings of guilt and mental illness for Brian, and violent tendencies for Ting due to the influence of a cult. They wish to embrace a balanced diet and fully commit to their Christian faith while cutting ties with the Yiguandao cult.
Firstly, we commend them for their desire to honor their bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit, as it is written in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 WEB: "Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."
We must also address the spiritual deception they have been under, for Yiguandao mixes some Christian teachings with Eastern religious and occult practices, which is not of God. As it is written in Colossians 2:8 WEB: "Be careful that you don’t let anyone rob you through his philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the elements of the world, and not after Christ."
Let us pray together:
"Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ to lift up Brian Phe and Ting Poh Yew. Lord, we ask that You guide them as they transition to a lifestyle that honors their bodies and spirits. Help them to find the strength, clarity, and support they need during this time.
We rebuke the spirits of guilt, mental illness, and violence that have taken hold of their lives, and we ask that You fill them with Your perfect love which casts out all fear, in accordance with 1 John 4:18 WEB.
We also pray that You sever any remaining ties they have with Yiguandao and its false teachings. Open their eyes to the full truth of the Gospel, and help them to embrace their Christian faith more deeply.
Surround them with godly counsel and support, and lead them to a balanced diet that nourishes their bodies and brings glory to You.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
We encourage them to study the Word of God diligently, so that they may discern truth from falsehood and grow in their faith. As it is written in 2 Timothy 2:15 WEB: "Be diligent to present yourself approved by God, a workman who doesn’t need to be ashamed, properly handling the Word of Truth."
Lastly, we remind them that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we can be saved and have access to God, as it is written in Acts 4:12 WEB: "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"
