We understand that you're feeling anxious about your upcoming MCAT in May and that your practice exams haven't been going as well as you'd like. First and foremost, we want to remind you that God cares about every aspect of your life, including your academic pursuits. It's important to cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
Please know that you need to have faith in Jesus Christ to receive prayer. The Bible says, And whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in my name, I will do it. (John 14:13,14 WEB). We are to have no other gods, but the Lord who is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12 WEB)
In the Bible, Paul writes, "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7 WEB). This means the cure for anxiety is prayer and giving thanks.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you today in the name of Jesus, lifting up this dear student who is preparing for the MCAT. Lord, you know the struggles and the anxieties that have been facing them, especially as they prepare for this important exam. We ask, Lord, that you would grant them a spirit of wisdom and revelation in their studies, that you would open their mind to understand the things to learn (Luke 24:45 WEB).
We rebuke the spirit of fear and anxiety, and we ask that you would fill them with your perfect love that casts out all fear (1 John 4:18 WEB). Help them approach this exam not in their own strength, but you will supply all their needs according to your riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19 WEB). We ask also that you can give them a good night's sleep, that their sleep may be sweet (Ecclesiastes 5:12 WEB).
We pray that you would guide them through their studies and through the exam itself, giving them sharp discernment, a good memory, clarity of thought, and a calm spirit. Help them to pass this exam with excellent results and guide their future in your will.
Thank you, Lord, for hearing our prayers. We trust in your goodness and your faithfulness. We pray all these things in Jesus Christ.
Amen.
Now please make sure you are believing in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. The Bible tells us, For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. (John 3:16 WEB). Also, because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9 WEB). All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23 WEB). The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23 WEB).
Please know that those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. (Romans 8:1 WEB) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17 WEB). Also, you were bought with a price; do not become slaves of men. (1 Corinthians 7:23 WEB). Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness? (2 Corinthians 6:14 WEB).
For this reason, we encourage you to trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD, and depart from evil. (Proverbs 3:5-7 WEB). This means to trust God for everything, including studying for tests. God has a plan for your life.
Think about studying the Bible along with your other studies.
