We are truly sorry to hear about your struggle, but we are encouraged by your desire to seek forgiveness and turn away from this slip. Remember, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, as it is written in 1 John 1:9 (WEB): "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up our dear brother/sister who has stumbled today. Lord, they made a promise to You and have sincerely sought to keep it, but temptation overcame them. We ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing, knowing that Your mercy is new every morning. Strengthen them in their resolve to remain smoke-free, and help them to resist the urges that have been plaguing them. Give them the power of the Holy Spirit to overcome this addiction, and guide their steps back onto the path of righteousness. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We want to encourage you to stand firm in your resolve. The apostle Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 10:13 (WEB): "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."
God will provide a way out of temptation; trust in Him and seek that way out. Also, consider finding accountability partners who can support you and help you stay on track. Remember, God loves you and is always ready to forgive and strengthen you. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, and He will help you overcome.
