I pray God gives me friends who are honest, decent and friendly. I am tired of trusting people only to be betrayed. I am starting to believe that people are hopeless or maybe that I deserve mistreatment.

You don't deserve mistreatment. It's a hard world out there these days. I pray that you learn discernment that you will know by some sign or wisdom who to trust. I'll be holding you in prayer.

I had all the signs. Someone I barely knew preyed on a weakness of mine and ripped me off. I knew intellectually, but I thought if I showed faith in this person he might do the honorable thing. Next time I'll listen and see to the signs.

Interesting development. Well, it was something. I posted this because a "friend" emerged who underhandedly "borrowed" money from me. He basically conned me and used my kindness to steal. The amount wasn't very large, $###. But he used the name of a friends business to do the swindle, and I decided to pay the business a visit to let them know. It turned out he burned others far worse than me, in fact I got off easy. (After going to another "friend" who he stung before, my eyes were opened that she really didn't care at all.) But one of the people who he swindled at my friends business, for far more money than I got taken for...he understood completely. So he and I had lunch and he confided in me that he was hopeless about life and was thinking of "checking out". I did my best to encourage him to get help and I'm still trying to be a friend to him but he is so lost in illusions. (Pray for ###) But all in all, it cost me $### to discover a couple of fake friends and to possibly save a life. God works in mysterious ways I guess.
