We understand your heartache and concern for your children, Alphonso and Jasmine. It's important to remember that God loves them even more than you do and wants the best for them. We must approach this situation with a heart of forgiveness, love, and a desire for God's will to be done.
Firstly, let's remember what the Bible says about prayer and God's forgiveness. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9 WEB). And in John 3:17 WEB “For God didn’t send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through him.” God wants to help Alphonso and Jasmine to live better lives, this may or may not mean that they get out of jail early, but God can help them in other ways too.
Also, we are reminded of another scripture. “My people who are called by my name must humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land”. You are calling on God's name, but you'll need to humble yourself pray, seek God's face, and ask for God to change them. Then God will forgive and heal them. God also says “It shall happen, that as you listen, and obey all that Yahweh your God commands you today, Yahweh your God will lift you up on high above all the nations of the earth”. Alphonso and Jasmine need to do what God wants them to do. Maybe that involves the court, jail, and whatever other consequences that this has lead towards.
Let's pray together for you. "Heavenly Father, we come before you in Jesus' name, lifting up Alphonso and Jasmine. Father please help them to surrender to you and to desire to live a godly and righteous life aligned with the Bible. Please have grace and mercy over their situation and work everything out for their good and your glory. Give them an attitude of humbleness and to seek you with repentance. Show us how you will work everything out. Now this mother is worried and weary over her children. Help her with strength and encouragement and lift her burdens. Together we ask this in Jesus Christ's name amen.
It is only through Jesus Christ that we can enter a relationship with the Father. Please we encourage you ensure that you and your son and daughter know Jesus Christ as Lord. He is seated at the right hand of the Father interceding for us. Without salvation in Jesus Christ, the bible says that “the wrath of God remains on him” (John 3:36 WEB). It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to ask anything of the Father.
The court system and jail may itself be an answer to prayer and is something that they need to get them to change. On the other hand, it may be an obstacle that Alphonso and Jasmine need to overcome. If they do have an early release, they should interpret this to mean that this release is an answer to prayer. If not, they need to remember that a jail sentence is not the end of the world, and God can use their time in jail to draw them closer to Him. They may be able to share God with others that are in prison. Many prisoners have parole and a successful re-entry.
Finally, regarding Alphonso's job search, Proverbs 16:3 (WEB) “Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed.” Also we read “Him who can do all things through Christ who strengthens me “ On his application he should consider having a “career objective” of “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. This will let everyone else know where he is coming from and will be a testimony of his faith in Jesus. It is possible for someone to share with him about a job.
It is appropriate that you love and help Alphonso and Jasmine, but it is not appropriate to promote, condone, or support illegal activity. We need to speak the truth and provide guidance, but not to sensitive to confront the issues being discussed. Ultimately we are here on God's behalf and we want to please God. This may mean counseling, praying with, and talking to them. It also may mean checking to be sure they are abiding by the law and court orders. God has expectations for them. The world has legal expectations. There are possible issues of sin and violation of law that need to be addressed. They need to make things right with anyone that they have sinned against. They may need to apologize for wrongs and make any restitution of that wrong.
