We understand that you are in a difficult situation and we want to help you pray through it and provide some biblical guidance. First, let's address the main issues:
First, we noticed that Jesus's name was not mentioned. It is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to God. This is because the Bible tells us in Acts 4:12 WEB, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" We are also told in John 14:6 WEB, "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." Therefore, we will be praying in Jesus's name.
We see that you have been in a relationship for 9 years but are not married. In the Bible, marriage is the only godly context for a romantic relationship between a man and a woman. It is described as a lifelong commitment in Matthew 19:6 WEB, "So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate." We encourage you to seriously consider marriage if you are truly committed to each other. If there are personal issues preventing this, we pray that God would help you to overcome them. Staying in a perpetual state of "dating or boyfriend/girlfriend" is not God's best for you.
We also see that your boyfriend is struggling with substance abuse, and this is causing you a lot of pain. We want to encourage you to stand firm in your faith and continue to pray for him. It is important to be supportive, but we strongly advise against accepting sinful behavior as a normal part of life.
The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 WEB, "Or don't you know that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don't be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortioners, will inherit the Kingdom of God." And remember Paul's words in Ephesians 5:18 WEB, "Don't be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit."
Regarding his friends who are influencing him negatively, the Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 15:33 WEB, "Don't be deceived! Evil companionships corrupt good morals." It is important for him to break away from these influences.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the name of Jesus, lifting up this beloved child. We ask that you would comfort her in her distress and give her the strength and wisdom to navigate this situation. We pray for her boyfriend, that you would set him free from the bondage of alcohol and drugs. Surround him with godly influences and help him to break away from harmful friendships. We praise you for your endless love and mercy. We pray for this relationship, and we ask that if it is your will, you would guide them into a godly marriage. In Jesus's name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to stay strong in your faith and continue to pray for him. We leave you with this Bible verse:
James 5:16 WEB, "Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective."
Please continue to pray for him and your relationship.
