We are here with you in spirit, dear friend, and we acknowledge your heartfelt cry to Jesus. It is wonderful that you recognize the value of Jesus Christ the name by which we should be saved, but this prayer is a strong indicator that you see things from a worldly perspective and faulty understanding. You are apparently relying on your works and performance rather than the finished work of Jesus on the cross.
Perhaps you feel worn out and hopeless because you are trying to earn God's favor or mercy. You may be trapped in a performance-based lifestyle rather than trusting Jesus' finished work on the cross. You feel as though you do not deserve God's mercy. According to the Bible, you are correct. No one deserves God's mercy, but God's mercy is freely extended to all who call upon the name of Jesus and put their trust in Him.
Please carefully consider that God loves you because He loves you. Receiving God's mercy and grace is not based on our works and performance. He loves and accepts us because we are in Jesus Christ. We know the love that God has for us because He calls us His children in 1 John 3 1. Behold what manner of love the Father has given unto us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knows us not, because it knew him not. There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit Rom 8 1.
By saying you know you do not deserve God's help indicates you do not understand the free gift of God's grace. The Bible says in Ephesians 2 8, For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God. You also mention all your hopes are shut, but those who trust Jesus have the hope of glory. We should glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation works patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope makes not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us in Romans 5 3-5.
We pray for you today: Lord Jesus, we pray for this dear soul who comes to call upon Your name is Jesus Christ. They recognize their failures and know they need help. Help them make a heartfelt recognition and valid confession of faith in you, Lord. We pray that You will open their eyes to see that Your mercy and grace are freely given to those who trust in Your name. Jesus Christ of nazareth, crucified, resurrected Savior, and coming King. Forgive them of their sins, renew them, and be their hope when hope is gone. We ask for Your mercy and second chances, Lord.
Jesus, open their eyes to see what they can never earn but only accept from God. Help them understand righteousness does not come from ritualistic praying for mercy but by faith in Jesus Christ alone. Bring them into a right relationship understanding with God, a life transforming relationship which is only accomplished by faith in Jesus Christ alone.
Help them to poker up as a tree firmly planted by streams of water, rooted in you Jesus the cornerstone, living stone, the stone of stumbling and rock of offence. Comfort them and strengthen their heart; let them know that You are always with them and will never forsake them. Help them know Your ways. Give them a believing heart and ears to hear Your Holy Spirit directing them.
Thank you Lord Jesus for this blessing in your name Amen.
