I humbly...but with an urgent burden...ask for prayers. My family, my marriage, and our finances are in distress. My husband is a man who is prone to obsessions. Over the past 18 years of marriage we have suffered through assorted obsessions that have ALWAYS led to severe negative consequences- being fired from jobs, marital separations. He is currently obsessed with running. It has become his focus- he talks to myself or our child very little other than about running, he has stopped other social activities because they interfere with his runnign schedule, and most distressing- it has recently escalated to him arranging...sacrificing...his work because he wants more time to run. It has gotten to the place where he cancels appointments, drops clients so he can run. We are a single income household. We are in financial crisis, and the situation is escalating. For the past 2 weeks, he has worked less than 15 hours or so per week. Our daughter cries because she is worried. I cry. I have tried countless times to talk with him, but he is easily angered & refuses to see the reality we are in. I beg for your prayers. PLEASE pray that the Lord wake him to the truth, remove the scales of this obsession from his sight. I also ask that you pray for me, that I be sensitive to the Lord;s direction for my own life...and also, that my daughter let go of the burden that is not hers' to carry. Everything in our life is being threatened right now because of his current obsession. Please, Dear God...free my husband, free us.
Dear Father,
I pray that You will help this family through this time. Whatever needs to change within, please change that. Please hear this wife's loving prayer.
Keep them strong, give them comfort, and give them Your peace that is beyond our understanding. Help the husband to see the futility of his obsession and heal
him from it. Help him to have a strong desire to work when he should work. Restore friendships and hobbies. Give them a full life as You have promised.
And, help them with every need they have Lord. Help them to thrive, so that they will be among the examples that show Your vast love for us.
Thank you that Jesus came, lived, died, and was resurected for our sins. And, I ask for these same things for any of us who have obsessions that stand in our
way of serving You and being the best we can be for our family, friends, neighbors, church, and society. Help us to SHINE and stand out to give others a light to
Your path and a desire to have what we have in You! For You are the way to all that is good. In Jesus name, we agree and thank You for Your answer to this prayer.
AMEN.
