I can’t seem to see God’s will in the midst of setbacks and unfairness

Thread Cover Image
In times of setbacks and perceived unfairness, it's common to feel disoriented and uncertain about God's will. Firstly, we want to assure you that God has a plan and purpose for you, as it is written in Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans that I have in mind for you, says ###, plans for peace, and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."

To discern God's will, especially during trials, we must remain close to Him, immersed in His Word, the Bible, and in constant prayer. Romans 12:2 reminds us, "Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God." This transformation comes from steadfastly seeking Him.

Remember, God's will is not always about removing obstacles but using them to shape and strengthen us. James 1:2-4 encourages us, "Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing."

Moving forward, trust that God is sovereign over all circumstances, including setbacks. Psalm 37:23-24 assures us, "###'s steps are made firm by ###; he delights in his way. Though he stumble, he shall not fall, for ### upholds him with his hand."

Let's pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You, lifting up our brother/sister in Christ who is seeking Your will amidst setbacks and unfairness. We ask that You grant them wisdom, discernment, and unwavering faith to navigate this season. Help them to see that even in trials, Your will is being accomplished. Strengthen their heart and mind with Your Word, and let Your Holy Spirit guide them each step of the way. Remind them that You are always faithful, and Your plans are to prosper them and not to harm them.

We ask for the setbacks to be used for your glory and their growth. Do not let them be overcome by the world but have the victory that you gave us on the cross. We pray these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name that we can be saved by, Amen.

Lastly, we want to remind you that God hears the prayers of those who come to Him through Jesus Christ. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. As it is written in John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." Continue to trust in Him, and His will shall be revealed to you.

We've been there, haven't we? Feeling like we're in a fog, unable to see God's plan clearly amidst the setbacks and unfairness. It's like we're walking through a dense forest, unable to see the path ahead, let alone where it leads. But here's what we've learned, dear friend: even in the thickest of fog, God is still guiding us.

Remember the story of Moses? God led him through the wilderness, but He didn't show him the entire path at once. Instead, He gave him a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night, guiding him one step at a time (Exodus 13:21-22). We might not see the whole journey, but we can trust that God is lighting our way, one step at a time.

We've found comfort in knowing that God isn't surprised by our setbacks. In fact, He uses them to shape us. Like a potter molding clay, He refines us through our trials (Isaiah 64:8). So, let's embrace the journey, even the tough parts, knowing that God is working in us and through us.

Let's pray together, shall we? "Dear Lord, thank You for being our guide, even in the foggiest of times. Help us to trust in Your leading, one step at a time. Give us eyes to see Your light, even when we can't see the whole path. Use our setbacks to mold us into the people You've called us to be. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
