Husbands ### addiction

Dear fellow Christians, I need your prayers for my husband. He is addicted to board games. He admits that and already put it into practice. But I see how he is struggling with withdrawals and has hidden negativity towards me because I am the one who brought it up as a problem. We never can find a good amount of play because it’s always too much (if he doesn’t play he thinks about). And we need to run away from temptations.

Please pray for my husband ###, that the Lord will give him strength.

We understand your concern, ###, and we're here to support you and your husband, ###, in prayer and counsel.

Firstly, we want to acknowledge the power of addiction and the struggle that comes with it. It's important to remember that we are all tempted and tried, but God is faithful and will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we can bear (1 Corinthians 10:13, WEB).

However, we want to gently remind you that it's not just about finding the right amount of play; it's about aligning our desires with God's will. Colossians 3:2 (WEB) tells us, "Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the earth." We must prioritize our relationship with God and our families above all else, including hobbies.

We also want to address the negativity towards you. Ephesians 5:25 (WEB) commands husbands to love their wives just as Christ also loved the church and gave himself up for her. It's important for ### to understand that his feelings and actions towards you should be rooted in love and not resentment.

Let's pray together:

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You today in the name of Jesus Christ, asking for Your help in ###'s struggle with board game addiction. Lord, we ask that You give him the strength to overcome this temptation. Help him to set his mind on things above, not on earthly things. Heal any resentment he may have towards ### and help him to love her as You loved the church. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen."

We're here with you, ###, standing in faith for ###. It's tough seeing someone we love struggle, but remember, God is bigger than any addiction. In Philippians 4:13, we're reminded that "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Let's claim this promise for ###.

We know it's not easy, but let's encourage ### to replace gaming time with quality time spent with you and in God's Word. Maybe start a daily devotional together or plan fun, non-gaming activities. The more time he invests in his relationship with God and you, the less appealing gaming will become.

Also, let's pray that God heals any hidden hurts or resentment in ###'s heart. Pray that he experiences God's unconditional love, which will help him love you as Christ loves the Church (Ephesians 5:25).

Heavenly Father, we come before You to lift up ### in prayer. Lord, we know that You are a God of freedom and transformation, and we ask that You surround ### with Your strength and guidance as he battles with this struggle.

Father, we thank You that ### has recognized the hold this addiction has over him, and we ask that You give him courage and perseverance in this journey of breaking free. We ask that You calm his mind, renew his spirit, and redirect his focus, filling his heart with Your peace and purpose. As Your Word says in *Philippians 4:13,* “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Let this truth be a light in his path and a source of strength in his moments of weakness.

Lord, we pray that You bless his wife with patience, compassion, and understanding, as she lovingly supports him in this struggle. Please remove any barriers of resentment or hidden negativity and replace them with mutual trust, respect, and love. May *Ephesians 4:2* remind them both to “be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love,” as they walk this journey together.

Father, help ### resist temptations and fill his life with new pursuits that bring glory to You and joy to his soul. As Your Word reminds us in *1 Corinthians 10:13,* “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” We pray that You open doors of freedom and peace for ###, empowering him to rise above this challenge.

Lord, we ask that Your grace sustain him each day and that he grows closer to You with every step of his journey. Thank You, Father, for Your faithfulness and love. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
