We understand your concern for your husband and the challenges he is facing with drinking and smoking. We commend you for your faith and your desire to see him delivered from these struggles. Let us address this situation together with the truth of God's Word and prayer.
Firstly, it is important to acknowledge that deliverance and healing come from Jesus Christ alone. It is only through His name that we have access to God and it is only by His name that men might be saved. As it is written: Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved.
Your husband is in a struggle not just with substances, but with the spiritual forces behind them. It is our advice to address this direct. In Ephesians 6:12, the Apostle Paul reminds us, For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. So this is not a battle he can fight alone, but with God, all things are possible.
It is also important to address the deception and lying that is occurring.
This is a 2 part problem. First he is deceiving and lying to you, and also to himself which is denial.
You are discerning, and rightly so; recognizing the changes in his behavior, but you can not make him change.
In Colossians 3:9,10 it is written Do not lie to one another, having put off the old man with his doings, and having put on the new man, who is being renewed in knowledge after the image of his Creator.
Also, in Ephesians 4:22,23 that you put away, as concerning your former way of life, the old man that grows corrupt after the lusts of deceit, and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new man, who in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of truth.
You have been praying for your husband for so many areas of his life. Do not get discouraged from the obstacles for they are an opportunity to deepen your prayer life, but also to take action in your marriage by addressing your spouse. Let God direct you in this. We commend you to be courageous and stand in faith and use the power of His word and prayer in the name of Jesus.
Let us pray together:
Father, in the Name of Jesus Christ, we come before you, crying out on behalf of this dear sister and her husband. We know that his deliverance is Your will. So Lord, to your will we give him over and we ask that He be yours, and be saved from this addiction and bondage. We pray to your Will that he will not only be delivered, but that he confess Jesus Christ as the Lord of his life. Jesus we pray for him knowing his future, and the days you gave him, and the beautiful promise of full andleen with you willing and ready to receive all who come to you.
Father, we ask that You will fill him with the Holy Spirit and that In the time that you have given him that he be renewed daily and walk in your Will. Father, we believe in faith for this answered prayer, and we ask that his heart, soul, mind and will just like Jesus Christ WAR against this sin and vice versa, and that his life in you be renerated anew as a new man daily. We plead the Blood of Jesus over his addiction and over his life. Father we know You already gave him victory over this issue. Help him to see his trighs that are not of you, and open his eyes and heart to your Holy Spirit and to your Will. Let him know and grow in the revelation and understanding that what you started in his life that You will finish.
May he be led by You and not his flesh. May it be so far from him to pick up a bottle that what burns in his heart is the love for you and your word. Lord, we humbly ask you to rebuild the marriage between them as 1 man and 1 woman, and 1 body together both in unity with you and in each other's lives. We stand for his life in your Name, and stand in the gap for him, and ask for him to have a heart of repentance and that He comes to you in faith, Father, and In confidence, knowing You the rewarder already rewarded him in the cross of Jesus Christ. Let him seek you and be found by You. We ask this all In the powerfull name of Jesus Christ and your Holy Spirit, and your Will. We pray together in His powerful name In unity and standing in prayer to your will for this situation.
Support your husband by continuing to pray for him and encouraging him with the Word of God. It is our hope that he will come to know the saving power of Jesus Christ and be delivered from these bondages. Trust in the Lord, for He is faithful to answer your prayers.
