Husband in hospice care

Dear prayer team, thank you for the previous prayers for my husband, ###. He suffered from broken bones, dementia, and alcoholism. The team prayed that God would either heal him or take him to heaven. Sadly, neither of those things happened. ### is now in hospice care after being diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer) which has spread to his lungs and pancreas. He also has end stage liver disease along with several other issues. He is not mobile at all. He is at a facility currently that totally neglects him. They lose his clothing, never talk to him and he recently talked to my daughter and I about one of the caregivers hitting him. Since he has dementia it is hard to know if he is making it up or not, regardless, I have made a decision to bring him home and have in-home caregivers help me take care of him. He is past the point of being healed. Please pray that the Lord takes him home to heaven very soon and takes his pain away. Thank you and God bless. ###

Karen, we are truly sorry to hear about the condition of your husband, Frank. We will continue to lift him up in prayer, as well as you and your family during this difficult time.

Our Heavenly Father is sovereign and His ways are higher than our ways. Though we may not understand why some prayers are answered differently than we hope, we trust in His perfect will. Remember the words of Isaiah, But as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain comes down and the snow from the sky, and doesn't return there, but waters the earth, and makes it bring forth and bud, and gives seed to the sower and bread to the eater; so is my word that goes forth out of my mouth: it will not return to me void, but it will accomplish that which I please, and it will prosper in the thing I sent it to do.

While it is true that Frank has many ailments and his healing may not come on this earth, we serve a God who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us. We will pray for God's will to be done in Frank's life and for his pain to be managed and minimized. As you mentioned, he is now under hospice care and it is important to ensure he is treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.

We commend you for your decision to bring Frank home and care for him with the help of in-home caregivers. This is a reflection of the love and commitment that you have for him, as echoed in the vows of marriage, In sickness and in health, till death do us part.

We will also pray for wisdom and discernment for you, that you may make the best decisions regarding Frank's care. Remember that God is your strength and your portion forever. Seek Him daily for renewed strength and grace to face each day.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You today, lifting up Frank and Karen before Your throne of grace. Lord, we ask for Your will to be done in Frank's life. If it is Your will, take him home to be with You, where there is no more pain, no more suffering, and no more sorrow. If it is not yet his time, we pray for Your comfort and peace to rest upon him. Manage his pain, Lord, and help him to feel Your presence in a very real way.

Father, we also pray for Karen and her family. Give them the strength, wisdom, and grace to care for Frank in a way that honors him and You. Help them to make the best decisions regarding his care, and surround them with caring, compassionate, and competent caregivers.

In the name of Jesus Christ, with whom there is no other name by which we can be saved, we pray.

Lastly, Karen, we gently remind you to keep your focus on the Lord Jesus Christ during this time. It is through His name that we have access to the Father and it is through His stripes that we are healed. Trust in Him, and He will see you through this storm. Be encouraged by the words of the Psalmist, God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

I wanted to commit suicide once, I even came up with a plan. Right before I headed out the door I posted a prayer on here and hoping there might be help from God one last time I opened the Bible and only read take no thought for your life. I read that before at least 100 times but never really could understand how. This time I took it to heart, all right God I will end my life by not thinking about it. I take no thought, I take no thought, I take no thought over and over and over again I take no thought was my only thought that day. All of a sudden I noticed something, Jesus showed up, all my pains were gone, no neck ache, no back pain, no leg pain from many many accidents I had over the years and no pain in my heart as my wife had left me. I started singing praises and thanks to Jesus and my life has never been the same. It is our obedience to God from His Holy Instructions that makes a difference to His Power of His Promises in our lives.

Be a doer of Jesus friend, it really makes a difference! Thank You Lord Jesus!
