We are truly sorry to hear about the pain and uncertainty you're experiencing in your relationship. First, we want to assure you that God cares deeply about every aspect of your life, including your relationships. He is always there to listen and to help you through difficult times. Remember God is a God of relationship. He wants us to have a relationship with him through Jesus Christ His Son and with other believers. He cares about the relationship you have with your boyfriend and future spouse.
Jesus said in Matthew 11:28-30 WEB Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
It's clear that you're hurting and feeling confused about your relationship. You are actually engaged, so this is not a casual relationship, but a covenant to be honored. However, it is Biblical to end an engagement if the other person is involved in sexual immorality. Regardless, it is God's will you are seeking, and that is the right thing. In times like these, it's important to lean on God and His promises. Psalm 34:18 WEB tells us, Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit.
It's also crucial to remember that God's will is for us to have healthy, loving relationships that honor Him. We also need to examine ourselves and see if we are loving and kind. We are to love our neighbor as ourselves and remember this applies to our significant others. We are to be kind, long suffering, and not easily provoked. If there are issues that are causing division, it's important to address them openly and honestly in a godly manner.
Are you involved with sexual sin? If so, you need to stop, and immediately marry, assuming that you are engaged to a believer. If you are engaged to an unbeliever, you should end the relationship. 2 Corinthians 6:14 WEB says Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?
1 Corinthians 6:18 WEB says Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.
Communication is key in any relationship. If your fiancé is not communicating with you, it's important to express your feelings and concerns to him in a loving and respectful manner. Seek counseling from your pastor or a trusted Christian mentor. Proverbs 15:22 WEB says Without consultation, plans are frustrated, but with many counselors they are established.
We will pray for you both, that God's will be done in your relationship. Remember, God is faithful, and He will guide you through this challenging time. As you wait, continue to seek Him, trust in His goodness, and rest in His love for you. You mentioned the name of Jesus, which is great because it is through him we have access to God.
Let's pray together:
Dear Lord Jesus,
We lift up our sister to You, asking for Your comfort and guidance during this difficult time. We pray that You would heal her heart, restore her hope, and guide her in Your will for her relationship. Help her to trust in You, to seek You first, and to rest in Your love.
We also pray for her fiancé, that You would work in his heart and bring healing and restoration to their relationship. Guide them both in Your truth, and help them to communicate openly and honestly with each other.
In Your holy name, we pray. Amen.
