How do you get someone off of your heart ...

How do you get someone off of your heart when they're no longer in your life? I've had people come and go in my life and was able to let go. However, my ex son-in-law still weighs heavy on my heart, even though he cheated on my daughter and hurt her. I can't stop the urge that he needs my prayers. I don't have any contact with him but feel the need to lift him in prayer. There's not a chance he'll ever be a part of our family again so I should be able to just say forget it.
